Title: Life of Prayer [Isaiah 6:1-8]

Contents A life of prayer [Isaiah 6:1-8]

As we live our lives without realizing it, there are times when we do not know what we are living for, how we have lived, or where we are going. That's why people often say, 'I've been living a crazy life, look at my mind'. 1 Peter 4:8 says, “The end of all things is at hand; therefore, be sober and sober, and pray.” No matter how busy your life may be, I hope you will remember this saying, ‘Pray with your mind and sober mind’ and live a life of prayer. Even if you are in a difficult environment, if you continue to lead a life of prayer, please believe that God will make all things work together for good.

In today's text, we can see that in the year of King Uzziah's death, when the nation of Judah was in a desperate situation and all the people thought there was no hope, the prophet Isaiah fell down in the temple of God and prayed earnestly. The most important thing in our life is prayer. a life of prayer

First, it is a life that looks to God.

Second, it is a life in which we possess the power and righteousness of God.

“Then I said, Woe to me, for I am destroyed. For I am a man of unclean lips, and in the midst of a people of unclean lips, I have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.” (Isaiah 6:5) The prophet Isaiah fell down in the temple of God and prayed, so that he could see God, and his I realized my shortcomings and sins and came to possess the power and righteousness of God. Those who do not pray are proud of their power and righteousness. The power of God is with those who realize their shortcomings. God forgives those who confess their sins. “At that time one of the seraphs flew to me with charcoal in his hand, which he had taken from the altar with an open flame, and put it to my mouth, saying, ‘Look! It has touched your mouth, and your iniquities have been taken away, and your sins are forgiven’” (Isaiah 6:6,7). Those who pray are not proud but humble. A person who prays is a person who forgives without condemning others.

According to the Westminster Great Catechism, “Prayer is the offering up of our desires to God in the name of Christ and with the aid of the Holy Spirit, with a confession of our sins and a grateful acknowledgment of His mercy. In other words, it is written that prayer is to make our desires known to God in the name of Christ through the help of the Holy Spirit.’ Please believe that the life of prayer brings righteousness from sin, health from disease, power from inability, and wealth from poverty.

Third, it is a life of absolute submission to God's authority and His will.

“And I heard the voice of the Lord … ” (Isaiah 6:8) The prophet Isaiah fell down in the temple and prayed when he heard the voice of the Lord. Prayer is hearing the voice of the Lord. Some people do not listen to what the other person is saying when they are having a conversation, but only say their own words and end it. When we pray, we need to think about whether there are cases where we only present our wishes to God and do not hear the voice of the Lord who answers them. Prayer is an acknowledgment of God's authority and absolute submission to His will. We need an attitude of obedience to God's authority and His will by listening to the Lord's voice through prayer and saying 'Amen'. Psalm 95:6,7 says, “Come, let us bow down and worship; let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. For this is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, the sheep of his hand. I want you to hear that voice today.”

Fourth, it is a life of confessing and practicing what you have decided.

“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then I said, Here I am. Send me” (Isaiah 6:8) The prophet Isaiah heard the voice of the Lord and said, “Here I am. Send me.” And he obeyed immediately. The God-given mission to Isaiah was to rebuke Israel's stubbornness and proclaim to them prophecies of judgment and restoration. The reason Isaiah immediately responded to God's call was because his love for God and his love for the nation were that intense. God's love is a love that, although sinners and humble beings, cared for and loved our lives, and gave even the life of his own son to save that life. With the love of our Lord, who did not spare our lives to save our lives, we should also carry out our mission to save people's lives by preaching the gospel.

Dear saints, In the name of the Lord, I pray that you will become believers who look to God through a life of prayer, possess God's power and righteousness, absolutely obey God's authority and His will, and live a life of confessing and putting into practice what you have decided. Congratulations.
