Old Testament
6. Is not the fast with which I am pleased to loosen the bonds of iniquity, to untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free, and to break every yoke?
7. Is it not that you distribute your bread to the hungry, and bring into the house the poor who are wandering, and when you see the naked, you clothe them, and do not hide yourself from your own flesh?
8. Then your light will shine like dawn, and your healing will be swift, and your justice will go before you, and the glory of the LORD will guard you behind you
9. When you call, I, the LORD, will answer; when you call, I will say, ‘Here I am.
10. If you give your heart to the hungry and satisfy the heart of the afflicted, then your light will rise out of darkness, and your darkness will become like the day.
11. The LORD will guide you always, satisfy your soul in a dry place, and strengthen your bones; you will be like a watered garden, like a spring that never fails.
new testament
25. A certain teacher of the law arose and tested Jesus, saying, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26. Jesus said to him, What is written in the law, and how do you read it?
27. He answered and said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love your neighbor as yourself."
28. Jesus said to him, "Your answer is right. Do this, and you will live."
29. The man asked Jesus to prove himself righteous, then who is my neighbor?
30. Jesus answered and said to them, "A certain man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho and met a robber, and the robbers stripped him of his clothes and beat him, and left him almost dead.
31. Just when a priest was going down that road, he saw him and passed by on the other side.
32. In the same way, a Levite also came to the place, saw him, and passed by on the other side.
33. A certain Samaritan, on his journey, came there and saw him and had compassion on him.
34. And he came near, poured oil and wine on his wounds, bound them up, put him on his own animal, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35. The next day he gave two denarii to the innkeeper and said, "Take care of this man, and if there is any more cost, I will pay it back when I return."
36. Which of these three do you think is the neighbor to the man who was struck by a robber?
37. He said, “He who showed mercy.” Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”
sermon
What is the most important thing we have to do in the world? It is learning to love God. So what's the second most important thing? It is to love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus told a story to the lawyer who asked, “Who is my neighbor?” That is the story of the famous Good Samaritan.
1. The Samaritan saw the needs of others. The priest and the Levite saw the robber and passed by, but the Samaritan saw him and helped him. In order to live a life of loving our neighbor, we must first see. If you are not sensitive to your neighbor's needs, you cannot love your neighbor as yourself.
2. He sympathized. The Samaritan saw him and took pity on him. He saw his pain as a spectacle and felt the pain together without passing it on. We cannot love unless we empathize together. We see with our eyes and we empathize with our ears. When we listen and listen, we can empathize.
3. He wrote what he had. He did not delay to help, but approached immediately. And he helped him with what he had: oil and wine, clothes, animals, and money. Real love is making sacrifices. God pays what we spend to live the good Samaritan life.
Let's not lose the opportunity to practice love. If you don't want to do it, there are plenty of excuses. But God asks us to do good. Love is an action, not a feeling. love
Don't wait for the feelings of When you start acting in love, emotions follow. The Lord is with the lowly and lowly, and we who care for our neighbors in need will welcome him.
