Title: Life of Worship
Contents
John 4:21-26
Toegye Lee Hwang said that Sebae was “in awe of the Daewol Sangje.” This means bowing down to God with fear and trembling with a humble heart. On New Year's Eve, we triple to adults In fact, if you look deeply into Confucianism, Sebae means bowing down to the god in the adult, not just to a grown-up person. It is bowing down with the desire to receive new blessings from the God who gave us the new year and who gave us a new life. Our worship is also bowing, as the word worship suggests. We bow down to God who has given us the new year, and we will worship with the desire to live in the blessings of God this year as well. Bowing once a year is called threefold. Once a month is monthly. Once a week is weekly. Daily bowing is one fold. Worship is not only three times, monthly, and weekly, but also to give to God every day with a single heart. This is important.
When Abraham was called by God to leave Haran, his nephew Lot's family also left. However, in the Bible, Abraham is the source of blessing, but the blessing on Lot is not mentioned. So what's the difference between the two? That is, Abraham built an altar and worshiped God wherever he went, but Lot did not say that he did worship, so it is evident that he did not lead a life of worship. The Sermon on the Mount is Jesus' message to believers. In the Sermon on the Mount, Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness.” These words are another expression of living a life of worship.
The first thing in life with God is worship. When we worship, we can be happy and we become happy. In John 2, we find the parable of the wedding feast. An important wine for the wedding banquet has run out. It was a moment when the joy of the feast was lost. But Jesus was there, and when Jesus made new wine, the banquet was full of joy and happiness even more than before. Dear brothers and sisters, worship is a time with God. I hope you will experience the taste of being with God through worship.
Worship solves the most fundamental human problem. The most fundamental and important issue for man is salvation. Salvation comes through worship. Through worship, we receive new life, heavenly life, from heaven, and such life leads us to eternal life. In 2 Samuel 24, David's sin caused a plague to spread throughout the land of Israel. As a result, 70,000 Israelites died in one day. David buys the Arauna threshing floor for worship. And David slaughtered animals on the threshing floor and worshiped God as burnt offerings and peace offerings. God accepted the worship and ended his death in the land. Worship makes us bold. It is because of the worship service that many ancestors of faith were able to keep their faith despite difficult persecution and tribulation. Dear brothers and sisters, I hope you will meet the resurrected Jesus through the 2009 worship service and experience the life that the resurrected Lord gives you. Through worship, we meet the risen Lord and gain strength from it.
In the text, the Samaritan woman asks Jesus a question. “Jesus, where should we worship? Then Jesus said, “You must worship in spirit and truth, neither on Mount Gerizim nor in Jerusalem.” And he says, “This is the time to worship.” Romans 12:1-2 also speaks of worship, saying, “I beseech you by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as living sacrifices. This is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this generation, but set yourselves apart, so that you may discern what is the will of God, which is good and perfect and pleasing.” First, worship is the offering of our bodies as living sacrifices. We must offer such a worship service that we offer ourselves as sacrifices. Second, we must worship in spirit and truth without following the pattern of this generation. I have repeatedly said, “We must separate our body, mind, and spirit so that we can focus on God.” It is because only when we focus can we discover the will of God. In this time, we believe that by focusing on Jesus, we will discover what God's will is and what God's good, pleasing, and perfect will is.
In 2009, I pray that you will be happy in your life through worship-centered life and live a life full of vitality filled with the Holy Spirit of God.
