Title: Life with direction / Philippians 3:13-14

Content Directional Life / Philippians 3:13-14

“Brothers, I do not yet count that I have taken hold of it, but one thing I do, forgetting what is behind, and grasping what is ahead, I press toward the goal for the reward of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus ” (Philippians 3:13-14). ).

Paul says in verse 12 before the passage that what has been accomplished in the past years is nothing. I confess that it is incomplete even though it has left such a staggering achievement. Paul looks like a runner. Have you ever seen an athlete running while looking at the ground? There is no such player. Raise your head toward the target and run in a straight line.

Is my life a straight line? Is it a curve? Or is it a tangled skeleton of thread spinning around in place? There was a man named George Godall. He was the general manager of the construction of the Panama Canal. At the time construction was in progress, the unstable climate and terrain were a problem. The hardest part for Godall was the gossip from behind by those who thought he would never get the job done. His colleague, who had not seen him, asked him. “Are you not going to respond to their criticism?” He answers. “When the time comes.” A colleague asks again. “When is that?” Godal thought for a moment, then quietly answered. “After the canal is completed.”

Living a life with a clear direction involves suffering and sacrifice. You have to pay a price. You may be at a loss in your relationships. You may suffer financially. You may be socially burial. But if the direction is clear, trivial things can be ignored. They can withstand the criticism of others.

Keep your eyes on the target clearly. Keep running towards the prize of the calling from above. Don't be afraid to make sacrifices. Don't be afraid of hardship. It will be rather a blessing for us someday in the future. I hope that we can all live a life with a clear direction.
