Title: Life without regrets

Songdo Samjeol refers to Parkyeon Falls, Hwangjini, and Hwadam Seogyeongdeok. Hwadam Seo Kyung-deok is a pioneer of organic theory in Korean academia and Lee Hwang. As a scholar who pioneered the study of Confucianism prior to this, it would be difficult to discuss Joseon's Taoism without knowing Seo Kyung-duk. This is the story of Master Hwadam's death. A disciple asked a question at a time when he was exhausted physically and mentally from a long battle with illness and was on the verge of death. "Sir, how are you feeling before you die?"

Master Hwadam then replied:

"I've known the principles of life and death for a long time, so I feel at ease. Now I know. The best truth is to die with a smile when you die. Oh Tongjae, no matter how competent and abundant you are, what do you do when you die? Smiling and dying when you die is the true truth of life All."

And after a while, Hwadam passed away with a smile when he passed away. The best life in this world is a life without regrets. Can you die laughing when you die?

The Apostle Paul did not enjoy wealth and glory like Solomon, and he was not a powerful man, but he lived a more valuable life than Solomon. He once lived a life of regret by persecuting the church, but after meeting the Lord and being converted, he completely devoted himself to the Lord. In his later years, as he looked back on his past, he said:

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; from now on there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. ” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)

There was an architect who was about to retire. The owner of the building company called him and asked him to build one more house before he retired. As I was about to retire, I built the building with a complaining heart, why are you entrusting me with this kind of work? The director didn't care, and he didn't even use good materials. I just skimmed When the building was finished, the boss called him and gave him a key and said:

“This house that you built is my present to commemorate your retirement for working hard for our company.”

The architect was very sorry. “If I had known this would happen, I would have done it with all my heart… .”

How different would our society be if we started architecture with the mindset of building our own house? A farmer who grows vegetables with the feeling that my family eats it, a doctor who treats patients with the heart of treating my family, and a subway train driver that carries a lot of passengers with the heart of burning my family. Will there be fewer people?

We have no regrets when we build our lives with the heart of building our own house.

William Borden, the legal heir to a large dairy farm, had already become a millionaire when he graduated from high school in Chicago in 1904. His parents made him circumnavigate the world. While traveling in Asia, the Middle East and Europe, seeing with his own eyes the suffering people brought a great burden to his heart. So, in a letter to home

“I will devote my whole life to the work of evangelism and preparation for it,” he wrote. When he made this decision, he wrote “No Reserve” on the back cover of his Bible.

After graduating from Yale, he turned down a well-paid job and wrote “No Reter at” on the back of the Bible this time.

After studying at Princeton Theological Seminary, I first stopped in Egypt to prepare for the mission while sailing to evangelize Muslims in China. It was here that he developed meningitis and died within a month. People would have said this.

“It was not God’s will. You have worked in vain!”

On the back of his Bible, under the two resolutions he wrote above, he wrote, “No Regret.” Jesus' words not to look back apply to whatever we do, at any time in our lives.

Now ask yourself what am I living for in this moment? What is the passion that burns in my heart. Will you live the rest of your life according to God's will to spread God's love to a forgotten land where you do not know God?

In 2006, let us commit ourselves to obey Christ “without delay” and “without regret”. In this way, whether we succeed or face hardships, we should be able to say, “I have no regrets,” whenever God calls us to his hometown.

* Prayer: Thank you, Heavenly Father, for allowing me to live a life with no regrets. May we live obediently to God even in the extreme circumstances of the times that cannot be described in words, and let us not depend on the world but only on God! And let us become bold and courageous believers of faith! I pray in Jesus name. Amen
