Title: Living by the Holy Spirit!
Contents
The long-awaited new time of 2010, a new day, a new morning has dawned under the protection of God who is in charge of history and works in time. The word of God that God has given us at the beginning of the new year is the theme of “living in the Holy Spirit.”
Today's text, John 14:26 and below, before Jesus died on the cross, He said these words to His disciples who were anxious and trembling in fear. The Holy Spirit, who is still with you, but who will come in my name, says he will help you.
Here, the Holy Spirit is called “the Comforter,” and this word means “comforter” or “helper.” Jesus does not say that the Holy Spirit is a magical or magical power, but introduces him as a person. If you are not a person, how can you be a comforter and a helper? Just as the God who made heaven and earth, Jesus who died on the cross is a person, God the Holy Spirit is also a person. Jesus calls the Holy Spirit the “Spirit of Truth.” The Holy Spirit is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of truth. He speaks only with the truth and only sees through the truth. So, what does the Holy Spirit do?
The first work of the Holy Spirit is to teach and remind us of the Word of the Lord.
(John 16:7-8) “[7] But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; the Counselor will not come to you unless I go away; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8] When he comes, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”
The second work of the Holy Spirit is to rebuke.
He rebukes the wrong parts of our lives. If our conscience is pierced while reading the Word, it is the work of the Holy Spirit. The conscience under the light of the Holy Spirit never dies. At that time, the master of my conscience is the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. Only a conscience that is stabbed with the truth can always be alive and well, and while still alive, it does not become a weapon that harms others.
(John 16:13) “But when the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own, but will speak only what he has heard and will make known to you things to come.”
The third work of the Holy Spirit is to guide you into the truth.
It is a very precious grace for the Holy Spirit to rebuke us and rebuke our conscience, but if we have it, we will either become tired of the burden of our conscience, or our conscience will become dull due to inertia. But the Holy Spirit does not only rebuke, but after shaking our conscience and awakening us, He Himself guides us into the truth. How can we, who lived in captivity in essential sin, stand alone as people of the truth? Because the Holy Spirit is constantly by our side to point, remind, rebuke, and take our hand and guide us. Then, let's see together in the Bible how the work happens in detail to those who are with the Holy Spirit.
1) There is emotion. (1 Samuel 16:13)
(1 Samuel 16:13) “Samuel took a horn of oil and poured it on him from among his brethren. From that day on, David was greatly moved by the Spirit of the Lord. So Samuel left and went to Ramah.”
2) He gives the word. (Matthew 10:19-20)
(Matthew 10:19-20) “[19] Do not be anxious about what or what to say when you hand them over; at that time he will give you something to say. [20] It is not you who speak, but he who speaks in you. the Holy Spirit of your Father.”
3) There is comfort. (Acts 9:31)
(Acts 9:31) “So the churches of all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria were in peace, and they went on strong, and they proceeded in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, and increased in number.”
4) There is hope. (Romans 15:13)
(Romans 15:13) “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
5) He makes them bear fruit. (Ga 5:22-23)
(Galatians 5:22-23) “[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, [23] gentleness and self-control; against such things there is no law.”
There are victories in our lives when the Lord is always with us. I pray in the name of the Lord that the new year of victory, the new year of blessing, the new year of health, and the happy new year will overflow in the lives of the members of Paul Church, your workplace, and the field of ministry. I pray....
