Living Hope (1 Peter 1:3-12)
Kiergegaard, in his book "The Sickness That Leads to Death," says that the disease that leads to death is a life that leads to death without hopes, dreams and visions. But even among hopes, there are dead hopes. Through the text, we will tell you what the oxygen network is and how we should build the oxygen network.
First, we must know the purpose of writing 1 Peter.
Only then can you properly declare it.
(1 Peter 5:12) I write briefly to you through Silvanus, whom I know as a faithful brother, and I testify that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in this grace.
The situation at that time was the Roman era, a period of severe persecution by Nero.
It was a time when Christians suffered death and suffering due to many persecutions.
What was required of Christians in these times was a living hope.
I urge you to overcome this hope.
Then, what is grace and why is Lee Eun-hye a living hope?
Let's take a look at the text.
(1 Peter 1:3) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
Praise be to the God who took Jesus from earth to heaven, to the God who raised the dead, to the God who gave birth to a living hope through the death and resurrection of Jesus.
Then, are the death and resurrection of Jesus our living hope and salvation?
Is it giving us a living hope?
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ did not mean that he died as an individual and was resurrected as an individual.
Because Jesus died and rose again as head and representative of the church, in Jesus' death we died to sin and in Jesus' resurrection we were raised.
This is our salvation and the oxygen network.
Example) The story of a tree in winter A tree without spring buds, flowers, and life is impossible.
(1 John 5:12) He who has the Son has life, and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
What is the oxygen network?
(1 Peter 1:4) to an inheritance that is incorruptible, undefiled, and does not fade, which is reserved for you in heaven.
The Bible testifies to us that it is incorruptible, undefiled, and incorruptible.
Why don't you decline? Yes, because it is something kept in heaven.
When it comes to heaven and earth, we are not talking about dualism like Greek philosophy.
Heaven refers to the new order established in Jesus' resurrection as heaven.
In the Old Testament, it is said that when a person dies, he enters the tomb of his ancestors, the earth.
However, in the New Testament, it is said that we will enter the kingdom of heaven.
In the old order, because sin and death reigned, everything was corrupted and defiled.
In the resurrection of Jesus, all things have been made new.
(1 Peter 1:5) You are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation prepared to be revealed in the last days.
Last days: In the last days, incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading salvation will be revealed through the second coming of Jesus.
will fly
Although we are now on earth, we are sitting on the throne of God with Jesus and living as a people in heaven. However, although this does not appear very well now, it will certainly appear face-to-face in the last days. In order to obtain this salvation, the text says that we are protected by the power of God.
What is empowered by God's protection?
Power: It is not about casting out demons or healing the sick, but believing in the power of God who raised Jesus from the dead. That is why verse 6 says that you rejoice because you stand by faith. (1 Peter 1:6) Therefore, now you were forced to be grieved for a little while because of various trials, but on the contrary, you rejoice greatly.
(1 Peter 1:7) That the trial of your faith, more precious than gold that perishes, even though it is tried by fire, may be found to be praise, glory, and honor at the appearing of Jesus Christ.
Deposit . It is said that it is for purity of faith and humility like pure gold through suffering like pure gold.]
(1 Peter 1:8) You have not seen him, but you love him. Although you do not see him now, you believe and rejoice with indescribable and glorious joy
(1 Peter 1:9) By the end of faith, the salvation of the soul.
Even Christians who were suffering persecution and suffering at the time the text was written did not see Jesus.
They heard the gospel through the apostles and became God's people by faith. But they do not see Jesus, but they rejoice and rejoice in him.
Because the end of faith is the salvation of the soul. The soul means the whole person, not the rest except the body.
And it testifies to how great the grace you have received.
(1 Peter 1:10) Concerning this salvation, the prophets who foretold the grace that would come to you
What did the Old Testament prophets diligently study and examine?
When will the Messiah promised to David come? I was looking for this and found the promised event. No prophets were found. Even the disciples could not find him until Jesus was resurrected.
it's not different
As evidenced in verse 11, it was Jesus' suffering, death, and resurrection, but no one could find him.
But by the revelation of God, verse 12 testifies that it is for the church.
(1 Peter 1:12) It was revealed by revelation that this service was not for their own sake, but for you, which were now reported to you by those who preach the gospel by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, which the angels want to examine.
It speaks of how precious and excellent this salvation, which even angels in heaven wanted to see through this gospel, by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven.
Now, Christians in Asia Minor are not the only ones to be saved. Jews are not the only ones to be saved. We, as Gentiles, have received this precious grace.
What grace have we received?
The grace that the Old Testament prophets were looking for but could not find!
It is the grace that even the angels wanted to examine. This grace is revealed through the death and resurrection of Jesus, and it is the grace that is bestowed upon us who believe in Jesus Christ, and it is the grace that reveals God's infinite mercy and compassion. This grace is a precious grace given freely to us who did not know God and resisted God through Jesus Christ.
We were once a wicked people who lived in the lusts of the flesh. But now, through faith in Christ Jesus, you become a child of God, a child of God who has all authority in heaven and on earth. This God is with us to the end of the world.
You have called us to this glory. But this glory is not just given
It is the glory and grace given by the curse of Jesus on the cross.
The curse of God that has been with the Father since before the foundation of the world
Curse of God, who took on a human body and humbled himself as a creature!
The curse that God took up on the cross and became a mockery of men1
As the wages of sin is death, Jesus bore the curse that we deservedly, with joy. And he called us.
Why did you call us?
God has called us to suffer for the sake of His righteousness. Just as the Lord took up the cross and went into suffering, so we too have called us to take up the cross of suffering and follow me. He did not call us to follow us for a week during Holy Week.
It is a very difficult time for the church to serve right now. Because the gospel has been corrupted.
Believe in Jesus, be blessed and go to heaven! For those who believe, nothing is impossible. !
If you pray, everything is heard! Suffering in these circumstances is because the brother who believes is judged as a person who lacks prayer, a person without faith, or a person without faith.
Therefore, one member is breaking one body.
Also, it is said that those who suffer for a short time are trying to use a lot of mischievous soldiers by training them into units. This is most expressions of faith by believers.
But the church has no choice but to suffer until the Lord comes.
Because the world continues to oppose God, and sin and death continue to try to destroy the church.
We are called in this circumstance.
Our suffering is not like the situation of the early church, like the age of Nero's persecution, like the time of Japanese colonial rule, it is not an age where we have to risk our lives to live. But there has never been an age of apostasy as it is now.
It is not the age of apostasy because the church is experiencing persecution, tribulation, and suffering.
Now, yes, in the sense that the church has been completely destroyed.
It is not a matter of personal belief.
There is no distinction between the world and the church that was established with the price of God's blood.
There has never been a time when the church was so disastrously destroyed.
Ex) Hereditary system, during election season the church becomes a rallying ground for one individual, etc.
But there is a reason we are not discouraged in our hopes.
There is hope and we can serve the church because Jesus Christ, who has the power of death and death, upholds the church and leads it with his strong right hand to lead it into his holiness. We are not an earthly people. It is not a land of land. All the kingdoms and kings of the Old Testament died, but this king is the almighty king who has put an end to death and death forever.
We have no authority to destroy this country, the Church. We are not redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, but by the blood of Jesus, the Son of God.
It is God's will to suffer for the good of God, and as Jesus obeyed and fulfilled that will, we must live as the Lord's set apart people.
If you do not live by faith in the present, there is no salvation.
If you do not walk with the Lord in your present faith, there is no reward.
Confess me before men ---- Confess you before God
Mrs. ---- Mrs.
This is our warning.
When Jesus returns, who has all authority in heaven and on earth, the powers of Hades and death will bow their knees before Him. However, those who see this glory and walk with the Lord of the resurrection even in the midst of suffering, if they participate in his resurrection, will be transformed into the immortal and immortal body of Christ, and will reign with Jesus forever. May you always win with this living hope------
