Main text: Acts 10:1-8
God has given us life. To unbelievers, “life” means life, but to believers, “life” means physical life for a short time in this world (one lifetime or one hundred years) and spiritual life for eternal life in heaven. In this world, there is a family, a nation, and a church in the process from the physical life to the spiritual life in heaven. All of them are important, but if you look at God's words about the family on Family Sunday today, you can see that the family is a small heaven given by God. The family is a small model of the kingdom of heaven where we Christians will live forever. If schools give you knowledge and businesses give you wealth, your home is a place of happiness. God valued the family more than anything else in the world, so through the marriage system, when a man and a woman mature, they leave their parents and have a family.
Just as the kingdom of heaven is the kingdom of God, “the family should be the family of God.” To become God's home, a little heaven,
First, it must be a family that has God.
A family that believes in God well, like Cornelius' family in today's text, must be a family that serves God well. Look at Cornelius's assumption in verse 2. “He was devout and feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the people, and prayed constantly to God.” It refers to a family or family in which not only one person but all the members of the household fear God together, that is, they have become a sanctuary. Originally, humans were created to believe in God. However, greed and pride lead to sin and serve God instead of idols. This is what God hates the most. No matter how much you build a family on this earth, you cannot go to heaven if you do not serve God. There is nowhere to go but hell. I hope that your family will become a blessing in the near future. We must unite our families, our neighbors, our nation, and all nations through the gospel.
Second, the family that God is pleased with is a small heaven.
Third, it must be a family that prays to God.
Today is a very good day. It is a day of joy, a day of thanksgiving, a day of worship. Twenty-four children will be baptized. 77 people have read the Old and New Testaments more than once in the past few months, and they will receive a prize. Special congratulations, and I want to give all glory to God. In the name of the Lord, I earnestly pray that a small heaven that pleases God will be built beautifully in the families of our beloved saints.
