Title: Sabbath and Sunday
Text: Exodus 20:8-11
Hymns:
When God created the heavens and the earth, he created everything until the 6th day and rested on the 7th day.
So, as in today's text and in Deuteronomy 5:12-15, God commanded us to keep the Sabbath as the fourth of the Ten Commandments to Moses.
The Sabbath must be kept holy.
Keeping the Sabbath means to devote all of your time, money, body, and devotion to God. Whether you keep the Sabbath day or not is an act of showing whether you love God or not.
In the Old Testament era, we keep the Sabbath, and in the New Testament era, we keep Sunday as the Sabbath.
To keep Sunday as the Sabbath is to keep Sunday as a holy day because Jesus, the Lord of the Sabbath, was crucified on Friday, was in the tomb on the Sabbath, and resurrected at the dawn of the week.
The Sabbath was the last day of the week, but in the New Testament era, Sunday is the first day of the week.
Who is the owner of this Sabbath?
And how should we keep the Sabbath?
In Matthew 12, the Pharisees, who knew only the meaning of the law and did not know the spirit of the law, attacked Jesus for breaking the Sabbath when they saw Jesus healing on the Sabbath and the disciples eating the ears of wheat.
Among the 39 Jewish traditions created by the Jewish high school rabbis, it is said that it is a violation of the Sabbath for a poor man to eat whole grains in someone else's grain field.
Then Jesus declares that the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.
What do you mean?
Jesus is the Son of God.
Therefore, just like God the Father, who is the author of the Sabbath, he can do whatever is pleasing to him on that day, and he can control what a person should and should not do on the Sabbath.
So Jesus said that the Son of Man is the Lord of the Sabbath, and that it is proper to do good on the Sabbath, and healed many sick people.
We are the Lords of the Sabbath, having been saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus on the cross.
So, as the Sabbath masters, can we do anything?
no
On Sundays, above all else, we should lead a worship-centered life, visit those in need, evangelize, and spend holy.
You should not go out to play or engage in entertainment, and you should refrain from doing business.
However, it is a very important issue how to interpret and accept God's word, which tells us not to do anything on the Sabbath, in the industrial age when science is highly developed.
When God gave the Ten Commandments, the Israelites were mainly nomads, tending sheep.
The situation of the times thousands of years ago and now there are many changes.
At a time when scientific civilization is highly developed and industrial society is formed like today, if everyone does nothing according to the commandment not to do anything, the board of directors will cause great ruin.
Therefore, you should interpret these words right away, and you should know that there are things to do and things not to do on Sundays.
Let's look at the Bible verse through the screen.
First of all, he said not to do it on the Sabbath.
Exodus 16:22-30 On the Sabbath, even if you have manna, do not go out to gather it.
Exodus 20:10 Do not do anything on the Sabbath.
Exodus 20:10 Do not work for male or female slaves
Ex 35:3 Do not make fires in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath (making a fire counts as labor).
Numbers 15:32-36 Do not cut wood on the Sabbath.
Neh 13:15-22 Do not buy or sell anything on the Sabbath.
Jeremiah 17:21 Do not carry burdens on the Sabbath.
Isaiah 58:13 On the Sabbath, seek not your own entertainment, nor speak privately.

Matthew 12:1-13 Offering sacrifices in the temple and healing the sick.
Luke 4:16 Worship in the synagogue
Luke 13:15 Watering the donkey
Luke 13:16 Healing and saving lives (healing an 18-year-old woman possessed by a demon)
Acts 13:42 Preaching the word of God.
A sin that cannot be condemned even when the Sabbath is broken

Matthew 12:1 Eating to evangelize
Matthew 12:11 Catching a sheep that has fallen into a pit.
Matthew 12:12 Doing good.
Luke 13:15 Feeding animals with water and pasture.
Luke 13:16 Healing.
John 7:22-23 Circumcision
Acts 20: 7 -12 Visiting.
Joshua 6:3-4 Soldiers fighting the war
There are nurses and doctors working in hospitals.
There are employees who work in a power plant that supplies electricity.
There are bus and taxi drivers who work for the transportation of citizens, and there are soldiers who protect the land.
There are police officers who work for security.
If the people engaged in this kind of work do not work on Sundays unconditionally just because they obey the word of God, the board of directors will be a mess.
That's not what God wants and it's not what God asks of us.
What God requires of us is to keep the things we should and shouldn't do on the week, and to spend the week holy.
If you keep the Sabbath day well, God will reward you.
The Sabbath is not a public holiday in the world,
not even a day off
Seventh-day Sabbath explanation
Sunday is the Lord's day to be holy.
It is God's command to keep Sundays well.
We wish all our high school students a good Sunday
