Subject Lost Silver

Text: Luke 15:8-10

------------------------------------------------------------ ---

What woman, who has ten coins, and loses one, does not light a lamp and sweep the house and diligently search for it? 9 And when she finds it, she summons her friends and neighbors and says, “Rejoice with me, and I have found the lost coin.”10 I say to you, When one repents, there is joy in the sight of the angels of God.

------------------------------------------------------------ ---

There is a 1981 film called Raiders directed by Steven Spielberg. This movie ranked #60 on America's 100 Most Wanted Movies to see.

The movie starring Harrison Ford and Karen Allen was the starting point for the Indiana Jones series. The original title is Raiders, but the translated title in Korea was “In Search of the Lost Ark.”

Here's an introduction to the plot: Moses received the stone tablets inscribed with the Ten Commandments from Yahweh, the God of Israel, and while descending the mountain, the Israelites were influenced by the Egyptian worship of Memphis, that is, the animal worship that believed in the bull as a god. "I witnessed the worship of ' and broke the stone tablet. The Hebrews gathered these stone tablets and put them in the Ark. After they settled in Canaan, they placed them in the temple built by Solomon. After that, the Pharaohs of Egypt took Jerusalem, and the Ark was moved to a secret room in the city of Tanis, where a sandstorm blew and was buried. Indiana Jones is a story of adventure and confrontation in search of the lost Ark.

into the text

Today's text is about finding again what was lost. A woman has lost one of ten drachmas. I've been looking for that one all day.

However, the first thing we should notice through today's text is the fact that this silver coin is still lost until it is found by its owner.

Just as a single silver coin has been lost, it is the fact that all people, until they met Jesus Christ, live in their sins as if they lost the glory of God.

That's right. We are all lost from God in our sins because of our sins. Sin has separated us from God. Sin has led us astray by turning away from our Shepherd, God, and astray.

Isaiah confesses:

“We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way, but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of our company.”

Here is the tragedy of human loss. The Bible illuminates the sad figure of us who are lost and wandering.

Just as the drachma that should be held in the hand of the mistress is lost in the corner of the house, are you living in darkness, losing the glory of God and losing all the riches that God gives you?

We who should be before God, who should have fellowship with God and enjoy abundant fellowship, aren't we at a loss where God is not?

Aren't we still stuck in the place where Adam fell because we lost the orbit where we were supposed to be?

What is the anxiety within us? What is the cause of the emptiness that penetrates your heart?

What is the source of the pain and suffering in your soul? What is the cause of the pain of not being able to look up to the sky and openly look at the sun? Why is your soul ashamed and afraid?

These images of us falling before God are like those who climbed a mountaintop in the cold winter and lost their hiking trails, wandering and dying in the snow.

But even more tragic is that the drachma is not even aware of the fact that it has been lost.

No one seriously considers the crisis of living without God until the Holy Spirit awakens the crisis of lost human existence.

I would like to introduce a fragment of a story told by a missionary in the United States. Dr. Morgen visited only the Indian villages and preached the gospel to the Indians. He was a knowledgeable source only of Indian villages.

One day he met a young Indian man who was lost in the woods. Dr. Molgen asked, “Young man, are you lost?” It is said that the young man at that time was so proud of telling the white man that he had lost his way, that he replied, “No, my hut is just gone.”

The courage to honestly say that he was lost was what this young man needed. Modern people living today also need this kind of courage. It takes courage to confess that you are a lost being.

Confess that I am sinner.

But everyone! Just remember this clearly. The fact is that even when you are lost because you are unwilling to make this confession, even when people are looking for joy in a place of refuge from God, God still finds you who have been lost.

We quickly see this as the mistress is looking for the silver coin. Why was this woman so eager to find this silver coin?

unforgettable silver coin

The silver coin was lost, but not forgotten by its owner. Because this woman could not forget this silver coin. Another surprising fact we should know is that the silver coins were lost but not forgotten by their owners. The owner could not forget the silver coin.

Because that silver coin was so precious. The lost drachma was not valued because it was worth a sheep, but the lost drachma was worth something else, worth every effort to find, despite the woman's sacrifice.

According to Jewish custom, ten drachmas are presented to the bride by the groom at the time of engagement. The bride then makes a necklace with the silver coins and wears it around her neck. The woman lost one of the ten silver coins that the groom gave her, a sign of love. Can you comprehend the bride's sorrow and her deep obsession with the silver?

Interestingly, the silver coin had a portrait of the king on it, and people valued the currency above all else.

Genesis 1:26 teaches that man was created in the image of God. Although sin has made us miserable, we are still saying that we are precious beings made in the image of God.

If you were the only survivor on earth, Jesus would have been willing to die on the cross for you.

You are an unforgettable person to God. So God will never forget you. Even if you are now lost and lost your sense of direction, even if I live as the master without having to be conscious of religion, moral chains, or God, my father's instructions, orders, and interference Even if you are advantageous from a distance beyond your reach, the Spirit of God is not forgetting you. Silver coins forget their mistress, but the mistress never forgets silver coins.

Isaiah 50:15 says, "How can a woman forget her suckling child, and will she not have mercy on the son of her womb? If they forget, I will not forget you."

Mistress looking for silver coins

And the hostess did not give up and now went looking for the silver coins. All the interest and passion of the woman was devoted to the search. The love of a woman who is devoted to finding silver coins by giving her all is God's passion for you to come to God.

This woman's tenacity, this woman's attachment, is God's love for us, God's attachment, and God's tenacity. As I meditated on this verse, I thought of this. Why did Jesus have a woman here instead of a man?

I thought that the reason was that women are more sensitive to attachment to what they have lost than men.

If I lose a ten-won coin on a city bus, I don't look for it. But my wife never gives up even a ten-won coin. This persistent obsession and attachment of a woman is God's attachment and attachment to us.

This God's attachment and tenacity are directed toward you today. Like the bloodstained hands of the pain and wounds of this woman groping in the dust, God searches every nook and cranny of the universe to find you.

Like this woman who is looking for lost silver coins, God gives you the opportunity to come before Him and become a new person through the gospel today too. Do not reject the love of God who comes to you with affection and obsession that never abandons you with a broken heart. .

Please don't just refuse. Now is the time to answer “yes” to God's call. Can't you hear the voice of the Lord calling to you in your heart?

Just as you are looking for lost silver coins, God is looking for you today. Come to our God, who is looking for you. He will gladly forgive you. Jesus forgave all your sins by dying on the cross for you who were suffering from sin and suffering.

Close your eyes and quietly listen to this voice. You are a lost silver coin, but I never forgot you. So you are a silver coin that will never be forgotten. Can't you hear the voice of the Lord calling to you in your heart?

Come to our God, and he will forgive widely. And he will accept you who come with a repentant heart and a believing heart. Please do not decline this invitation, this invitation. please don't turn away

You are a person who will never be forgotten by our God. At this time, God is calling you anxiously. Can't you hear this voice of love in your ears?
