1. These are the laws you will set before the people.
2. If you buy a Hebrew servant, he will serve six years, and in the seventh year he will go out free of charge and be a free man.
3. If he comes alone, he will go out alone; if he is married, his wife will go out with him.
4. If the master gives him a wife, and his wife bears sons or daughters, his wife and his children shall belong to the master, and he shall go out alone.
5. If the servant says clearly, I will not go out and be a free man because I love my master and my wife and children.
6. And the master shall bring him to the judge, and he shall bring him to the door or to the doorpost, and with it he shall pierce his ear with an awl, and he shall serve his master all the days of his life.

1. We all know that we have knowledge of things sacrificed to idols, but knowledge makes us proud, but love builds up.
2. If anyone thinks he knows anything, he does not yet know what he ought to know.
3. And if anyone loves God, that person also knows God.
4. Therefore, regarding eating things sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world, and that there is only one God.
5. Although there is one called a god in heaven and on earth, there are many gods and many lords.
6. But we have one God and Father, from whom all things are born, and we are for him, and there is one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we are through him.
8. Food does not put us before God, so just because we don't eat doesn't make us worse, and just because we eat doesn't make us better off.
9. Be careful, then, that your freedom does not become a stumbling block to those who are weak in faith.
10. If anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in the house of an idol, will not the conscience of those who are weak in their faith be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
11. Then, through your knowledge, the weak in the faith perish, for he is the brother for whom Christ died.
12. In the same way, when you sin against your brother and offend his weak conscience, you are sinning against Christ.
13. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, so that my brother will not stumble.

Jesus said you will know the truth and the truth will set you free. Knowing the true truth sets us free. Even if there are people who boast only with knowledge and criticize others, if they meet Jesus of love, they will realize the truth and gain true freedom. Not only that, but you also become a person who sets others free. The Corinthian church members had knowledge without love.
1. Is it okay to eat sacrifices offered to idols? : This question of the Corinthians was an important issue at the time. Because the sacrifices offered to idols were sold in markets and served at banquets, the church members had to eat them. If they eat dirty food like this, won't the church members become dirty?
2. Food doesn't make us stand before God: Eating food doesn't make us better, and not eating doesn't make us worse off. Food enters a person's mouth and comes out the back, not the heart. Food does not defile the mind. All food is clean because God gave it for us.
3. Freedom controlled by love: So, is it all I need to enjoy this freedom anytime, anywhere? It's not like that. What if our freedom became a stumbling block for the weak in the faith? If we sit down and eat in an idol's house because we are free, won't the consciences of those who are weak in faith be strengthened to eat things sacrificed to idols?
Therefore, freedom is true freedom when it is controlled with love.
If my knowledge destroys the brother for whom Christ died, it is a sin. Freedom of self-control with love is beautiful. Therefore, we are free, but when we take care of ourselves with love for those who are weak in faith, we build up the church community.
