Title: Love God
Text: Matthew 10:37-39
I am happy when I work with love. And it bears good fruit. However, if you do not do it with love, you will complain and become dissatisfied while working. In the text, the Lord told us what we should do because we love when we work. After sending out the disciples and giving them various instructions, the Lord said, “He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” what do you mean? Even if we evangelize, preach the word, or heal the sick, we must have love for the Lord. No matter how great you are, if you do not have love for the Lord, it is nothing.
God wants us to do God's work by living our lives with a heart that loves God.
I bless you that you will bear fruit and live a happy life with the heart of loving God, even if you worship, serve, give alms, and do missionary work.
How can we love the Lord?
1. We must follow the Lord closely.
Before you were arrested, Peter swore that even if everyone else would forsake you, I would not forsake you. Hearing this oath, the Lord said to Peter: “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” After hearing the prophecy of the Lord, Peter did not look back, and on the night the Lord was arrested, he denied that he did not know the Lord in front of his maid. Why? This is because Peter followed the Lord from a distance on the night He was arrested (Matthew 26:58). He loved the Lord and followed him, but as he followed him from a distance, the Lord became faint and the shouts of the crowd were loud, and Peter's faith was broken. Here is the problem.
We also have a heart to love the Lord. But if we love the Lord from afar, our love for the Lord can be corrupted. If our love for the Lord is not to fail, we must follow Him closely. Only then can you win.
2. You must love the Lord the most.
In order to truly love the Lord to the end, we must love God above all things in this world. “He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he who loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me” (Matthew 10:37). We must love God more than our father or mother. We must love God more than our children or daughters. Then God takes responsibility for parents and children. “You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6:5). This is to love God with all your heart.
When suffering comes, those who do not love God turn their backs on God. We stop worshiping, stop praying, and pretend we don't have faith. But those who love God the most draw closer to God when suffering comes. For more than ten years, David had to run away from his family because of Saul, and he faced many crises. His life was a series of hardships. But in the midst of suffering, he loved God more. I depended more on God. Then he overcame the hardship. “I love you, O LORD, my strength” (Psalm 18:1). It is the confession of a person who loved God more in the midst of suffering and gained victory through God's help.
Who can risk their life and carry the cross? He is the one who loves God the most. “He who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it” (Matthew 10:38-39).
Because God loves God, when he lays down his life, he accepts that life and gives him victory.
I bless you that you live a victorious life with the faith of loving the Lord the most.
