Title: Love of the Cross Text: Romans 5:8
We realize again that life is given through sacrifice. The eternal life given to us was also obtained through the noble sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross. The precious life of Christ, given for all the people of this earth, has given the blessing of salvation to all mankind. Through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we become children of God. Sacrifice is the best expression of love. The words of today's text are also giving us important lessons about the Lord's love. The sacrifice of Christ on the cross was the fruit of love that gives us life. Without the love of Christ, this life would not have been given to us. (Psalm 51:12)
1. The love of Christ is the love he loved for us who were sinners.
“While we were still sinners,” he says. At a time when we did not yet know who the Lord was, when we did not know God or Jesus, when we were living in sin and debauchery in sin is the love you loved. God loved me even though I was helpless, ungodly, sinful, and at enmity with God. Isaiah 53:6
The love of the Lord is love for sinners. It is the love that loved us who were corrupt, stinky, wounded in rags, sickly and useless. In the parable of the prodigal son, the father accepted the son as he is now. As he failed, he squandered all his father's fortune and accepted him as he was a beggar. With pigs in the pigsty....
