★ Love of Jesus Christ
☆ Bible: John 13:34-35
Because God created the heavens and the earth with wisdom, God is the source of all wisdom. That is why many believers pour out God's wisdom on their children from a young age in their New Year's prayer topics.
Solomon also became king as David's successor at a young age and offered a thousand burnt offerings (1,000 worship services) to ask God for grace and blessings. In a dream, God appeared and asked, “What shall I give you?”
Solomon sought “a wise (listening) heart” (Shomah rev), and it was said that it was in God’s heart. To become the leader of God's people, to love the people and to rule the people well, he sought the wisdom of judgment to make good judgments. In other words, he sought the wisdom and ability to practice love. Wisdom comes from a loving heart.
“God Is Love” Seeking God is seeking love. The basis of all God's words is love.
Love is the foundation of all the righteous commandments (laws) that God has given. Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, had an accurate insight into this truth and showed it through his life and the cross.
1. “I give you a new commandment, that you love one another” (summarizing the heart of God's will throughout the Bible in one sentence):
Moses, who received the Ten Commandments from God on Mount Horeb (Sinai), in his last sermon before the conquest of Canaan, told him to love God and keep his commandments (Deuteronomy 6:5).
Jesus summarized the Ten Commandments as two commandments: “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27). This is the great first and second commandment, and the whole law and the prophets (key summary) (Matthew 22:37). And in today's text, he asserts, “Love one another” with just one word.
At the conclusion of the Sermon on the Mount, He said, “Treat as you would like to be treated” (Matthew 7:12). Love is the fulfillment of the commandment (Romans 13:10 “Love does no evil to its neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law”).
2. “Love one another as I have loved you” (three types of love exemplified by the Lord):
The Lord showed his love through his life.
1) He loved his disciples (his people who were in the world), but he loved them “to the end” (John 13:1). He loved the betraying Judas Iscariot, the fugitive disciples, and even Peter who denied it.
2) It is the love that washed the disciples' feet (the love of washing hands, John 13:5). The best hospitality in Jewish society at that time was to wash the feet of the guests. Mary anointed her with perfume and washed the feet of the Lord with her hair.
The dirtiest place in the body is the feet that tread on the world where iniquity, injustice, and uncleanness are rampant. “Love of washing hands” is love that covers a multitude of faults (1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other earnestly. (covers mistakes and faults)”).
3) It is called “the sacrificial love of the cross, that is, agape love”. Peaceful reunification of North and South Korea is a true Christian mission to sacrificially love poor North Korean compatriots. The difference between sheep and goats in the Last Judgment was love.
3. “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another” (Love is the testimony of disciples of Jesus Christ):
Jesus' parable of the good Samaritan helping a man who was struck by a robber is an education for the true (true) Christian.
1) Love should be the evidence of true Christians (disciples), not blessings, church attendance, and prayer.
2) The witness of the family of faith and the church community must also be love (Proverbs 15:17 “It is better to eat vegetables and to love one another than to eat fat cattle and hate one another.” 17:1 “It is only a piece of dry bread, It is better for them to be at peace than for a house full of fleshly flesh and strife”).
3) Heaven is a land of love. Politics is to make heaven come true on this earth.
A disciple who is full of love must become the leader of the country and nation and build the kingdom of love. The economic, cultural and technological development itself is not important, but a truly first-class country and an advanced power are a country where all people can share love with each other. Love is the realization of true justice.
A Mongolian chieftain left 17 horses as an inheritance and made a will to divide 1/2 for the eldest son, 1/3 for the second son, and 1/9 for the third son.
The eldest son had to split 8 1/2, the second 5 2/3, and the third 1 8/9, so we had to fight each other.
I asked a missionary for a solution. When the missionary donated one animal he had as a legacy, the total number became 18.
The eldest son has nine, the second son has six, and the third son has two. However, if you add up the number of horses that the three sons have, there are 17 horses in total, leaving one horse dedicated by the missionary.
The missionary called these words “words of love.” Sharing with each other will make it more abundant. By making sacrifices, all problems can be resolved peacefully, amicably, and abundantly.
1 John 4:12 “No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is made perfect in us.”
