Title: Love of Neighbor, Love of God
Contents
Not long ago we celebrated Christmas. Christmas is a feast of love that God has given us. God made man out of love. Since God loved people, we must love one another. "If he says he loves God and hates his brothers and sisters, he is a liar. He who does not love his brother or sister whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. He who loves God must also love his brothers and sisters. "(1 John 4:20-21). To say that we only love God is a lie.
All humans are creatures of God. So when we ignore humans, we are ignoring our Creator. Just as parents don't like them when they beat their children, God doesn't like them when they hate humans who are God's creatures. To hate man is not to love God. Christ does not ask whether he loves God. He will ask at the Last Judgment whether he loved his neighbor. "Have you helped the hungry? Did you help the thirsty? Did you care for the prisoners?" Sometimes we help the hungry, we help the thirsty, and sometimes we help the stranger. However, they often fail to answer the question of whether they have helped those in prison because they are shy. If we do not take care of those in prison, we are indifferent to Jesus. Most people forget who is in prison. If I was in prison and no one came, it would be a terrible thought. You will be even more lonely.
Amnesty International (Amnesty) appealed to millions of conscientious objectors around the world with an article titled 'Forgotten Prisoners' in England in 1964. Amnesty started as a small British lawyer's office and has grown into a global human rights organization. More than 50 countries from around the world, including Africa and Asia, are participating. It has won several awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize.
Amnesty International emphasizes working independently without political, religious or social ties. In particular, we call for the release of prisoners of conscience. Prisoners of conscience call for a fair trial of political prisoners and also campaign for abolition of the death penalty. Sinners are human too. You can't just throw a sinner away like garbage. We are all sinners before God. Through the eyes of faith, God is only the master of life.
Human rights violations are investigated for a long period of time based on fairness and impartiality to determine prisoners of conscience. In Korea, the Amnesty branch was established in 1972. Some Amnesty members have also been arrested. It was particularly difficult under the Yushin regime. It is still subject to many restrictions. Although Amnesty is one of many human rights organizations, what makes it special is that it puts people who act according to their conscience at the center. So the symbol of Amnesty is a candle surrounded by barbed wire. The members of Amnesty come from a wide variety of ideological backgrounds. One thing is that they are looking for prisoners of conscience in prison. This is true Christian thought. Even if you are not baptized, you are called an anonymous Christian. Their spirit was more of a believer than many Christians. Faith without action is not recognized by God. I think you do not lead a life of faith without action. I hope you will continue to develop this kind of faith in the future.
