Bible Text: Proverbs 8:1-21 Title: Love Wisdom

Proverbs 8:1-21.

1 Does not wisdom call? Does not understanding raise its voice?

2 He will stand in the high places by the roadside and in your streets,

3 Called by the gates, at the entrances, and at the gates of many entrances and exits, saying,

4 I call you, men, and I lift up my voice to the Son of Man.

5 You fools, you must have understanding, you fools.

Let your hearts be open; listen,

6 I will speak the best; open my lips and bring forth honesty.

7 My mouth speaks truth, and my lips hate evil.

8 All the words of my mouth are righteous; there is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

9 All these things are clearly known by those who have understanding.

Those who have gained knowledge are honest.

10 Do not accept silver, but my admonitions, and obtain knowledge rather than gold.

11 For wisdom is better than pearls, and everything you desire cannot be compared to it.

12 I, wisdom, take refuge in understanding, and find knowledge and soberness.

13 To fear the LORD is to hate evil.

I hate pride, arrogance, evil conduct, and a perverse mouth.

14 I have counsel and true knowledge; I am understanding; I have power.

15 Kings rule because of me, and princes establish justice.

16 Because of me rulers and nobles rule, all the righteous judges.

17 I love those who love me,

Those who seek me earnestly will find me.

18 Riches and riches are mine, and so are the riches and justice.

19 My fruit is better than gold or fine gold, and my income is better than pure silver.

20 I walk in the path of righteousness, and walk in the midst of impartiality.

21 so that those who love me may find riches and fill their treasuries.

* The text exhorts us to love wisdom.

For those who love wisdom find love in him,

For he who earnestly seeks wisdom will find him. (17)

1. Wisdom calls people. (1-4)

Opportunities are not always given.

"He said to me, "I will listen to you in my favor,

I helped you on the day of salvation.

Behold, now is the acceptable time; behold, now is the day of salvation."

(2 Corinthians 6:2)

Notice Isaiah 55:6!

6 Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near.

2. Wisdom speaks the best. (6)

3. Wisdom walks in the righteous way. (6-7)

Let's hold onto the words of verse 17 and love wisdom.
