Contents
Luke 15:1-7 The Lost Sheep Theme: 11. Salvation. 2009. 8. 30.
◎ Introduction
: Luke 15 contains three parables. ※ It deals with the amazing love of God who finds and welcomes lost sinners.
1. Lost Sinners (Sheep) (1-7)
2. Repentant sinners (drachma) (8-10)
3. God's love (11-24)
※ The main text (1-7) is a parable about a lost sheep abandoned in a desolate world.
1. Holy Separation (1-3)
One). Publicans and sinners “all” drew near to Jesus.
①They were hungry for the words of Jesus. : Because of spiritual need.
②They acknowledged the great need
* Publicans: Publicans were working for the conqueror of Rome. As a result, they were considered traitors (eg pro-Japanese).
* Sinners: prostitutes (compare Matt. 21:35), liars, thieves, murderers, etc. They were immoral and unrighteous people who did not keep the law.
※ Knowing that they themselves are sinners, they flocked to Jesus, who was preaching about salvation and the hope of the kingdom of God.
2). The attitude of the religious people (the Pharisees and the scribes) was tragic.
※ Jesus had fellowship with poor sinners and complained that he ate food.
※ Important point: Jesus did not belong to the world, but He came to this world for God's sake.
(Liberals and separatists overlook this point)
3). Jesus' parable
: The parable of the lost sheep (1-7), the parable of the sinner (8-10), the love of God (11-24)
* The parable of the text and the text below
◎ Those who truly believe
① Becoming a child of God. (2 Corinthians 6:17-18) * Believers do not come into the world to do worldly things and have conversations with sinners (Eph 4:29, Col 4:6)
② We must go all over the world and preach the gospel to all people (Mark 16:15).
* You must go to the world, not wait.
