Make today as if it were the last / 1 Peter 4:7-11
It is a common sense and unchangeable law that everyone knows that if there is a beginning there is an end and if there is a day of birth there is a day of death. Nevertheless, there are many cases in which humans do not engrave this strict principle of nature deep in their minds and perceive their life or history as a concept of a circle that always goes round and round. However, the biblical view of history is not a concept of a circle, but a concept of a line. There must be a clear beginning and an end. It seems like this year started yesterday, but it is already the last week and tomorrow is the day the year will end. In this way, the time will come when our lives will also reach the final station, and the history of mankind, which seems to last forever, will end with the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and the final judgment with the sound of the trumpets of angels vibrating heaven and earth.
So, I want to receive grace by setting the sermon under the title “Today as if it were the last.
+Secondly, he said that he would come to his senses.
The word “to be sober” means to live without going crazy. If we don't come to our senses, we can't help but go crazy in the world without realizing it. Crazy also means to be drunk in another word. They will become like the people of Noah's day and the people of Sodom and Gomorrah who live in the world as if drunk. The way to come to your senses is to be sober and pray. Self-discipline is the attitude of man to live while refraining from God, and prayer is the attitude of walking with God endlessly.
And they were told to love each other passionately. It was said that love covers a multitude of sins. We often hear that men and women love each other even when they fall in love with each other's faults and shortcomings. We love our brothers with the love of Christ, not because there is a condition that we cannot but love, but because we love, our faults and sins are covered. will be
Love inevitably involves sacrifice and hard work, and one of the great virtues of the early church is hospitality. It can be said that guests who are simply visiting for a short time, but the guests of that time mainly refused to welcome the saints who are fleeing persecution because of their faith.
Those who live with the attitude that today is the last day should do their best in their service life. Teach them to serve with the attitude of stewardship. Service can be divided into two broad categories: one is the service of the Word and the other is the general service of the saints.
He said that those who serve with the word should do it as if they were speaking the word of God. In other words, when pastors preach, they do not convey their feelings, thoughts, or arguments, but thoroughly focus on the Word. And in general, the saints should serve as if they were doing it with the power that God provides. Whether it be material service, talent service, or effort service, whatever we do, we should do it as if we were to do it all as if God gave it to us through Jesus Christ. Because I can give you glory.
