obedient person
2003. 3. 30 Genesis 26:12-16
Introduction
When I was a child, students read biographies a lot (General Choi Young, Admiral Yi Sun-shin, King Sejong, Lincoln, etc.)
I used to.
Believers should read about the people of faith introduced in the Bible and imitate their faith. Today, I would like to share grace by speaking about Isaac, a man of obedience, the son of Abraham, the father of faith.
Main subject
1. Isaac is a man of obedience
1) I obeyed God (.I did not leave the place God had set for me because it was difficult)
According to Genesis 26:1-4
There was a great famine in the land where Isaac lived, and he went down to the land of the Philistines, but God appeared to Isaac. Do not go down to Egypt, but live in the land that I am showing you. If you stay in this land, I will be with you and I will bless you, I will give the land to you and your descendants.
The reason God told us not to move to Egypt was because Egypt was a city of sin and corruption, and it was a good place to sell our faith.
From a human point of view, going to Egypt, where water and grass are common, is the only way to live, but he obeyed God's word and lived in Gerar, the land of the Philistines.
From whom did Isaac learn this obedience? This is what I learned in my life from my father Abraham.
Like Abraham, we must first learn to obey God in our children through a life of obedience to God.
2) He obeyed his father's spiritual realm.
According to Genesis 22:9-10
When his father Abraham tried to offer Isaac as a burnt offering on Mount Moriah in obedience to God's word, Isaac did not rebel against his father but obeyed his father's spiritual authority.
In Genesis 24
Isaac obeyed the spiritual authority of his father Abraham in the matter of getting married, and he married Rebekah, whom his father had brought as a servant from his hometown.
Even today, one must obey in front of the spiritual realm of the believing father, and even if he is an unbeliever, he must obey the authority of the head of the household for family order if it does not go against his faith.
2. He was a man of prayer.
According to Genesis 24:63
Isaac prayed to God when his father's servant went to the village of his mother's house to find a wife.
According to Genesis 24:12
The servant who was in charge of the important task of seeking the sexual feelings of his master's son also prayed specifically to God and received an answer, and met Rebekah.
Isaac prayed, the servant prayed, and God answered prayer during prayer. Isaac got Rebekah, who had a good heart and a beautiful appearance as his wife.
3. He was a tolerant person.
1) Isaac received great blessings by obeying the word of God (Gen. 26:12-14)
(1) They cultivated in that land and reaped a hundredfold.
Isaac yielded 100 times more than the Philistines under the same cultivation conditions.
(2) It was rejected because it was prosperous and prosperous.
(3) Sheep and cattle formed herds, and they suffered many hardships.
(4) Greater strength than the Philistines (16)
2) The Philistines were jealous and blocked Isaac's well and filled it with soil.(15, 18, 21)
3) Isaac did not fight with the Philistines and moved his residence three times continuously, and when he moved the fourth time, they surrendered.
God blessed Isaac, so when we moved and dug a well, water came out every time we dug.
And we took a larger place, so we named the area "Rehoboth" because the Lord made our place wider.
4) Later, when the king of the Philistine kingdom asked to make a treaty of peace with the army minister, Pigol and his friend Ahusad, he obeyed.
Genesis 26:26-29
The king of the Philistines has come and has clearly seen that the Lord is with you, so let us make an oath and make a covenant with you. You shall not harm us, for you are blessed by the Lord.
Genesis 26:30-31
And Isaac made a feast for them;
conclusion
Isaac is a man of obedience, a man of prayer, and a man of generosity.
Isaac was greatly blessed by God's blessing under the same circumstances.
I was blessed enough to say that I saw God with me even from the king of the Philistines.
I hope that we can all imitate Isaac's faith and live through difficult times with that faith, overcome difficulties, and enjoy the blessings God has prepared for us.
