Title: Marital Relations in the Kingdom of God
Contents
This verse deals with more specific and practical contents that can only be kept when you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
Paul describes all human relationships in order of importance. 1) Husband-wife relationship, 2) Parent-child relationship, and 3) Master-slave relationship are explained in detail.
Today is the first issue of husband and wife relationship. We have many relationships in our society. Which of these relationships is the most important? It's a marital relationship. The relationship between husband and wife is of the utmost importance. Marital relationships are more important than children's relationships.
But for us, especially Koreans, are there relationships that are more important than marital relationships? What is? We value the relationship of children more. I don't know if most of them have lived like this. It will be almost 100%. They say, ‘I want to get a divorce right now, but we live together because of our children’. These words come out of the mouths of the church members without hesitation. But such a statement is very unbiblical. However, we do not know that, and speak as if I am devoting myself desperately for my children. The Bible doesn't say that. We need to know that Paul is speaking first because the marital relationship is more important than the problem of children.
The relationship between husband and wife is stronger than any other human relationship. However, it is the easiest relationship to break. Marital relationship is unconventional, there is no relationship. So when it breaks, it's south-south soon.
It is said that if a couple does not try, they will break up. Just because you're married doesn't mean you're married. It would be a mistake to say that you have given birth and that your children haven't gone home yet. These days, they sleep in separate beds. So, in this relationship, if you don't try with all your might, it's easy to just be a couple.
Why does Paul tell a wife to submit to her husband? Because that authority comes from God.
God gave authority to husbands, parents, and masters. So it is to obey
For example, if you give your husband authority, but you use it incorrectly, the wife leaves the house.
Authorities are given to parents, but if misused, children run away
If the owner misuses his authority, the employee leaves the company. cause a strike.
Authority here does not mean tyranny. means taking responsibility
Why should a wife be submissive? This is functionally demanding. I'm not talking about the personal aspect. Because they have different functions, they must obey because of the functional order. It's not biased. Because they are identical in person, a wife submits to her husband, and a husband loves his wife. A husband has no right to demand submission from his wife. There is only the duty of love. A wife has a duty of submission. But why not obey?
When the husband is devoted to love, the wife is bound to submit voluntarily. Making demands without dedicated love leads to negative, reluctant submission.
Husbands and wives must be filled with the Holy Spirit in order to have a relationship where they care for each other and obey each other like their own body.
The meaning of this word is that it takes effort and effort to maintain and develop a marital relationship.
So, what can I do to go home today and work hard for a better marriage? I'll end with just one example.
We need something that couples can do together. Both of you should have common hobbies.
For example, jogging together in the morning, bowling in the evening, learning salsa dancing together, or taking a walk in the park together after dinner… .
Anyway, this kind of effort, something we should do together.
Without anything, without doing anything, words alone are not enough to love.
I hope that it will become a precious relationship where we love and care for each other.
