The Lord's Supper with Love (Mark 14:22-31)
22 As they were eating, Jesus took the bread, blessed it, broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, Take, this is my body. 23 And he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, and drank it all. It is my blood, the blood of the covenant. 25 Truly I say to you, I will not drink any more of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.” 26 Then they sang praises and went out to the Mount of Olives 27 ○ Jesus said to his disciples He said to him, "You will all forsake me, for it is written, I will feed the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered." 28 But after I am raised, I will go before you to Galilee. 29 Peter said to him, "Even if I abandon them all, I will not." 30 He said to them, "Truly I tell you, tonight before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times tonight. 31 Peter said with strength, "Even if I die with you, I will not deny you." And all the disciples said the same thing.
I. Baptism and the Lord's Supper
i. baptism
There are two sacraments that our Protestant churches have traditionally observed.
Until the 16th century, there were seven sacraments observed in the church.
Among them, the Reformers recognized only two of them as holy ceremonies of the church, and they are kept today.
One of them is baptism.
At the beginning of his public ministry, Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist.
as well as baptizing others,
He proclaimed the forgiveness of sins, death, and new life for the people of God's kingdom.
At the end of the Gospel of Mark, the resurrected Jesus tells his disciples:
“...Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned” (Mark 16:15-16).
All who believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ will be baptized.
And at the end of the Gospel of Matthew, he says:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” (Matthew 28:19)
Those who want to become disciples of Jesus Christ are commanded to be baptized.
Therefore, baptism is through our faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior.
Forgiveness of sins, uniting with Christ,
It also means publicly acknowledging that fact and becoming a member of the church community.
before oneself, the church, and the world outside the church
“I am a new person from now on.” Baptism is to declare, “I am dead in the past.”
We celebrated our baptism today.
Through this baptism, we declare our faith in Jesus Christ,
I sincerely congratulate you on your decision to become a member of the community of the Kingdom of God.
Through this baptism, let us mature into a stronger person of God in the future.
ii. Communion service
The second sacrament observed by Protestants is the Eucharist.
Holy Communion is simple
