Title: Mark 3:20-30 Calling the Captives

Contents

Mark 3:20-30 The call of the captives Topic: 25. Congratulatory remarks. 2009. 4. 5.

Introduction

: It deals with the criticisms of religious people at the time and Jesus' answers, and makes us accept the truth about Jesus.

1. Relatives say that Jesus is crazy. (20-21)

2. Judgment of the scribes. (22-23)

3. The 4 Disputes of Jesus. (24-30)

1. Relatives say that Jesus is crazy. (20-21)

The reaction of the group and the reaction of relatives are contrasting.

* The crowd follows (20), and the relatives say it is crazy (21). It is said that the scribes were possessed by demons (22-30).

One). Crowd's reaction to Jesus (20)

Jesus did not invite the crowds. But the crowds gathered. We are?

There was no time to eat because there were so many people. But he served them without returning them.

2). Relatives' reaction to Jesus (21)

① I think Jesus is crazy because of the crowd's enthusiasm and their reaction and respect.

② I think Jesus is crazy because he chose a group of strange disciples.

③ Jesus’ life and behavior were fundamentally different from those of ordinary people, and it is said that he was crazy because the people in power opposed and tried to kill him but did not back down.

④ They are said to be crazy because the healing ministry, teachings, and doctrines of Jesus were unlike any other.

2. Judgment of the scribes. (22-23)

The scribes who came from Jerusalem on an investigation mission made their own judgments about Jesus.

One). “He was built by Beelzebub,” he criticizes harshly. (22)

Religious people (Phariseans, Sadducees, scribes) believe that Jesus is possessed, dwells, and is governed by the supernatural powers of Beelzebub (god of flies, god of dung) and supernatural powers of evil.

I am crazy (John 10:20) I have a demon (John 8:48) I am an illegitimate child (John 8:41) I am a friend of tax collectors and sinners (Luke 7:34)

① Religious people could not deny the power of Jesus.

* Blessings for casting out evil spirits were not new or unusual for people in Jesus' day.

* Others have delivered congratulatory speeches, but not always with success. It was a limited success. it will subdue the forces of evil

lack of full power.

* The blessing Jesus gave was new. His power is not limited, perfect and always successful.

② Religious people deliberately refuted Jesus' claim that he was the Messiah and the Son of God.

2). “How can Satan cast out Satan?” This is a strong disputation. (23)

Satan tries to build up and expand evil, not to destroy it. That is, the logic of the scribes is illogical and does not make sense.

3. The 4 Disputes of Jesus. (24-30)

Jesus said ① Internal strife is always divided and destroyed (24-26). ② The kingdom of Satan is plundered (27). ③ God's love has no limits (28). ④ Thinking of God’s work as Satan’s work is dangerous that cannot be forgiven.

It is to commit a sin (29-30). testify that

One). Internal disputes always divide and destroy. (24-26)
