Title: Marriage to Christ
Content Marriage to Christ 4 (John 4:4-18)
The accounts of Hosea and Gomer in the Old Testament are paired with the accounts of Jesus and the woman of Sugaseong in the New Testament. In 721 BC, Assyria invaded and conquered northern Israel, and about 30,000 Assyrians migrated to Samaria, creating a mixed race. After that, the Samaritans were abandoned by their own people, and the Israelites did not even pass through Samaria on their way to northern Galilee. But Jesus met a woman drinking water at a well in the city of Suga, Samaria.
Then, who is the woman who came out to draw water from the well in front of Suga? (1) She was a woman who was despised and ignored by everyone because she was a Samaritan. (2) She was not a woman in a normal marriage, but an immoral person who had been married six times. (3) He was a man who constantly pursued the lusts of the flesh. Jesus asked this woman for water, but Jesus asked for water not just to quench her thirst, but to give her a greater blessing of living water. God's command to Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, Elijah's request for bread and water from the widow of Zarephath, and God's request for holy water on the Lord's Day and to pay tithes, the firstfruits, are all for the sake of blessings. I hope that you will receive God's blessing by obeying God when He wants you to. Next week is Thanksgiving Day, so let's prepare a donation in gratitude for the grace you have given us throughout the year.
When Jesus asked for water, the woman of Suga-seong sarcastically said, “Why are you asking me, a Samaritan woman, for water?” (verse 9). When receiving the Word, you must have a right mind, faith, and faith. . At that time, God blesses you and answers your prayers. To the woman's sarcastic remarks, Jesus said, "If you drink the water I give you, you will never be thirsty." The woman asked for the water, and Jesus said, "Bring your husband if you want to drink it." You pointed out the most wrong and shameful part of However, the core of those words was the promise, ‘If you arrange all your husbands, I will become your bridegroom who will never thirst for you.
Jesus also speaks to us today. “If you want to be my bride, arrange all your husbands! Then I will be your husband!” “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28) If you bring a problem to Jesus and confess it, He solves it, blesses you, and anoints you with oil. I bless you in the name of Jesus to become holy brides who return to Jesus.
