Text: Luke 10:38-42 (Luke)
38. As they were going on the road, Jesus entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her house.
39. He had a younger brother named Mary, who sat at the feet of the Lord and listened to him.
40. Martha was busy with many preparations, so she went to Jesus and said, "Lord, don't you think that my sister is leaving me to work alone? Command her to help me."
41. The Lord answered and said, Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things.
42. But if only a few things are enough, or even just one thing is enough. Mary has chosen the good part, and it will not be taken from her.
Title: Martha and Mary
1. Let's look back on the year physically and spiritually
There is no one in the world who does not belong to the community and live in it. I hope this will be a time to reflect on your personal life, family life, church life, and life in the social community.
Today's text story is the story of Martha and Mary, the sisters of Lazarus, who were resurrected from the grave (John 11:43-44). Jesus came to visit this home. Originally, this family of three brothers and sisters had a special relationship with Jesus, and just like brothers and sisters, Jesus was a loving family who visited and rested when he was tired from his ministry and provided everything without fault. Martha was the eldest of three children and the hostess, and Jesus was truly a precious and precious family member, and the Lord whom I respected like a brother. Jesus and his companions were hospitable guests. When Jesus visited, Martha and Mary must have prepared food for Jesus in advance. However, after Jesus came, he heard the words while he was speaking, and Martha was concentrating on preparing to serve only fleshly food to Jesus.
2. We must be Mary and Martha.
On the other hand, Mary worked hard in advance, and while he was speaking, she listened and sat at his feet and listened to what he said with great importance. In addition, Mary fell down at Jesus' feet and prayed for his life even before the death of her brother Lazarus, and the night before Jesus died, she sat at Jesus' feet and poured expensive perfume of three hundred denarii that she had saved as a dowry to the Lord to prepare for Jesus' burial spiritually. It's a woman. This behavior is an expression of the greatest respect and faith as a teacher as a Lord.
While doing what you have to do, don't try to be evaluated by others either at work or in the community, but do your best and be grateful no matter what anyone says, doing what you do with sincerity. But today, rather than evaluating who did better, the attitude of Mary, who longed for the Word, is the attitude of the Christian life. Talent, this is the most precious talent given by God, but there are no invaluable talents in the world. This year, if you do your best to serve with your talents in society, at home, and at church, you will be rewarded with blessings if you do it with joy and joy as thanks.
