Mary's beautiful appearance/John 12:1-8
One day there was a feast for Jesus in Bethany. Then Mary broke an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, poured it on Jesus' feet, and wiped it with her hair. At that time, seeing Mary's grateful heart, Jesus greatly praised Mary, saying that wherever the gospel is preached in the world, what this woman has done will also be told in remembrance of her. Then, what kind of gratitude was Mary's thanks to, and why did Jesus praise it so much?
First, Mary's gratitude began from her heart.
In the world, there are people who have received grace, but rather complain and grumble. Others have received grace, but some take it for granted. But Mary Bethany did not forget the grace and gave thanks from her heart. We, too, should become believers who know how to give thanks from the heart for the Lord's grace of redemption and the grace of God that has been given for the past half year.
Second, Mary's thanksgiving was the best.
Mary Bethany received many favors from the Lord. And family-wise, when his brother Lazarus had been dead for four days, Jesus raised him to life. So Mary gave the most precious thing, the best thing, to Jesus. At that time, we can see that Jesus was very pleased with Mary's devotion. Therefore, I hope that we too, like Mary Bethany, give the best thanks to God on this Thanksgiving Sunday.
Third, Mary's thanksgiving was the one that broke the alabaster jar.
Mary shattered the alabaster jar, which she valued the most, and poured expensive perfume on Jesus. For Jesus' sake, we should be able to break even the most precious thing and give it generously. There are times when we especially need to be thankful. Therefore, we hope that we will not delay giving thanks and be willing to offer praises of thanks and gifts of thanks to God on this occasion.
