Title: Mary, mother of Jesus / Luke 1:38

Contents

“Mary said, “I am the servant of the Lord; let it be done to me according to your word.” And the angel departed.

Among the many women in the Bible, we will recognize Mary, the most glorious woman, the chosen woman, and the mother of great faith, living in unknown pain and suffering.

By recognizing this mother, we can think of the image of our mother today. In particular, Mission 6 Women is a biblical figure with many things to imitate as mothers of mature children.

1. She was a mother of obedience like Abraham.

Even though it was a more disgraceful disgrace for a virgin to give birth to a child, you can see them obeying it.

“Mary said to him, ‘I am the servant of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word.’ And the angel departed” (Luke 1:38).

2. She was a mother of thorough faith.

She was a mother who never weakened in the prophecies of angels about Jesus, faith in God's promises, and faith in Jesus' words.

Ex) * Belief that the word will come true during the miracles of the wedding feast in Cana,

“His mother said to the servants, “Whatever he says to you, do it” (John 2:5).

* Faith waiting for the promised Holy Spirit,

“They devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and the brothers of Jesus.” (Acts 1:14)

3. She was the mother of patience.

One of the important virtues a believer should have is patience, and especially mothers should know that they need patience with hardships for their children.

Mary's patience is special.

The patience that a virgin endured when she had children, the patience she endured while fleeing to Egypt, the patience she endured while growing up as a unique child, the patience she endured while watching her child crucified on the cross,

But as Romans 5:4 says, “Patience produces character, and character produces hope.”

4. She was a mother of love and devotion.

Maria's distinguishing characteristic is her love and devotion, just like our Korean mothers.

Without Mary's terrible love, Jesus could not have grown up so well, and the sacrifice and devotion he made to raise him is an example for all mothers.

Behold the love of Mary the Mother standing at the foot of the cross from which all the disciples fled.

The sacrifice and devotion of a mother who raised her children by sacrificing her life thoroughly was the foundation for Jesus to fulfill the mission of Christ.

5. She was the mother of hope.

Even in the dawn of the day Jesus was resurrected, in Mark's upper room where the Holy Spirit was given, she was a mother who looked forward to the angel's promise.

Hope is the power to give everyone dreams and not give up on expectations until the very end.

6. She was the mother of prayer.

“With the women, Mary the mother of Jesus, and the brothers of Jesus, they devoted themselves to prayer at all.” (Acts 1:14)

The greatest help that Mary endured in enduring so much pain and suffering was her prayer life.

Today, the life of prayer is what all mothers should always strive for and imitate.

Prayer is to save the children, save the family, and support the church.
