Title: Master of Faith / Luke 2:36-38
Content Master of Faith / Luke 2:36-38
"There was also a prophet named Anna, daughter of Vanuel of the tribe of Asher, who was very old. After she married her, she lived with her husband for seven years, and she became a widow and was eighty-four years old. This man did not leave the temple, but fasted day and night. He served in prayer, and at this time he came and gave thanks to God and spoke about it to all who were hoping for redemption in Jerusalem” (Luke 2:36- 38).
The faith shown by the prophetess Anna in the text is the faith of a master. Although she was an elderly widow, she displays a high level of faith that we can imitate.
First, Anna lived a life of service. This is a life of service, and only people of living faith can live a life of service. It is said that Anna did not leave the temple, fasted day and night, and served by prayer. He did it by finding a service that he could do.
Second, Anna lived a life of gratitude. Actually, Anna doesn't seem to have many conditions or reasons to be grateful. He seems old and has no children. His health would not have been good, and he would not have had much material. Still, I am grateful. The text says, 'He came to me at this time and gave thanks to God'. This is the time when Mary came to the temple to perform the rite of discharging the baby Jesus 40 days after the birth of Mary. In other words, Anna is thankful for Jesus. It is not of the world, but because of Jesus, only people of faith can give thanks.
Third, Anna preached the gospel to everyone. This is the message that he shared the Jesus he had met with those who were eagerly waiting for the Messiah. In order to preach the gospel, I must first meet the Lord, the Messiah. We must preach the Jesus we met in the Word, not the Jesus we know through learning. It must be communicated with the mouth and through life, and it must become the fragrance of Christ to reveal the Lord. God wants the amazing work of salvation to happen through the masters of faith. Let's all become masters of faith.
