Text: Hebrews 9:11-22 (Hebrews)
11. Christ came as high priest of the good things to come, with a greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.
12. Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered into the Holy of Holies once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
13. When the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkle on the unclean, to purify the flesh
14. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?
15. For this reason he is the mediator of the new covenant, by dying for the atonement for the sins committed in the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of an eternal inheritance.
16. For a will, the one who made the will must die
17. A will is valid only after the person dies; it has no effect whenever the person who made the will is alive
18. Therefore the first covenant was not made without blood.
19. After Moses had spoken all the commandments according to the law to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, and water, and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled the book and all the people.
20. And he said, This is the blood of the covenant which God hath commanded you.
21. In the same way, blood was sprinkled on the tabernacle and on all the vessels used for service.
22. According to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
Title: Meditation on Lent
1. Around Lent
Lent is the 40 days before Jesus was crucified. This is the season to set and keep a special period to meditate on the sufferings of Jesus Christ on the cross, repent of our sins, and commit ourselves to a godly life as a disciple of Jesus. Lent is called the Wednesday of Penance, and it is a period of 40 days excluding Sundays, starting with Wednesday, passing through Palm Sunday Passion Week, and ending on Easter Sunday this year until the day before April 4th.
In Lent, without name and without light, let's be believers who think about what Jesus did. In the Old Testament era, God specially selected only the people of Israel to set up a sanctuary so that the people could come to God to offer atonement sacrifices and receive atonement for their sins. In the Old Testament era, the Holy Place and the Holy Book were located in the Tent of Meeting or the Tabernacle, and in the Holy Place, there were various holy things such as a lighthouse, a table of bread, and a water jar. The tabernacle of the Old Testament was a necessary place to offer sacrifices to God according to the law of worship before Jesus came.
2. The atoning blood shed by Christ
Ordinary priests lighted lamps daily in the sanctuary without extinguishing the fire. There is only one high priest, and he can enter the Most Holy only once a year, and at other times he will die. (Exodus 30:10) (Hebrews 9:22) 'Without shedding of blood there is no remission!' When you enter the Holy of Holies once a year, you first make atonement for your sins with God, wash your body and mind, and then go in to make atonement for your sins. However, if you enter the Holy of Holies without being holy, you will die instantly. The high priest takes turns placing golden wool and pomegranates on the bottom of the holy linen cloth, sprinkles animal blood on the incense altar, and offers sacrifices for the sins of the people. If you deny it, you die instantly as soon as you enter, so there is no sound of bells. Then, because of his sin, the high priest put a long string along with golden wool on the hem of his robe, and pulled it out to be buried.
He said that Christ is preparing a place for the children who have been saved at the right hand of God right now by rising from the dead and rising again (John 14:3). (Psalm 32:1) With the help of the Holy Spirit, who changes even the conscience, I became a being who was blessed to be safely guided to heaven. A will is effective only when the person who made the will dies. Because Jesus said his will is effective, and everyone who believes in his grace receives forgiveness of sins. (Romans 3:23) The wages of sin is death. In this way, countless innocent animals had to die, and Jesus tore his body and shed his blood to complete salvation in order to achieve complete salvation.
