Isaiah 55
6. Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.
7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous for his thoughts, and turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy. Come to our God, and he will forgive widely.
8. My thoughts are not your thoughts, says the LORD, and my ways are not your ways.
9. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.
10. As rain and snow come down from heaven and do not go there again, but water the land and make it sprout and bear fruit, so that seed is given to the sower and bread to the eater.
11. The word that goes out of my mouth will not return to me in vain, but it will accomplish my will and prosper in the work for which I sent it.
12. You will go out with joy, and you will be led in peace; the mountains and hills will sing before you, and all the trees of the field will strike their palms.
13. The cypress will grow in the place of the thorns, and the fossils will grow in the place of exhaustion, and this will be the honor of the Lord, and it will be an everlasting sign that will not be cut off.
1 Corinthians 1
18. The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
19. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will bring to nothing the understanding of the wise.
20. Where is the wise man? Where is the scholar? Where is the wise man in this generation? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21. As for the wisdom of God, since the world did not know God by its own wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believed by the foolishness of evangelism.
22. Jews seek signs, Greeks seek wisdom;
23. We preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles.
24. But to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
25. The foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

Subject: Memories of my father's house
Text: Isaiah 55:6-13, 1 Corinthians 1:18-25,
Autumn is also known as the ‘season of remembrance’ as it is called ‘the season of fruition, the season of reading, and the season of contemplation’. It may be because of the fear of nature in front of a frozen winter, going through a lively spring and a passionate summer. Perhaps it is the natural order of thinking that autumn is the time to create memories in the yoke of accumulated years. At this time of year, I miss the forgotten person, and I miss the smell of people. The addition of years may be the fruit of it. We look forward to hearing from someone, and we are curious about the well-being of those we know. This is probably the reason why I think of Go Eun’s “Autumn Letter” Johnson’s “Memories of Maggie” Lee Eun-sang’s “Upcoming the Old Garden” and Shim Bong-seok’s “face”. Maybe the memories are ready for the winter season I think that it may be the fuel of the heart to warm up the cold in order to follow the laws of nature for winter.
Last week's sermon titles, 'Remember your Creator!' and 'Remember me!', also meditated on the parable of the prodigal son. It was the ‘memories of my father’s house’ (memories of my father) that made the prodigal son overcome the winter flesh (pigs). “Then he turned to himself and said, How many of my father's servants are rich in bread? I am dying of hunger here” (Luke 15:17). This memory gave him courage in the crises of life. It was the motivation that made him decide to go home (Luke 15:18,19). Perhaps at the bottom of what the Old Testament wise man calls ‘a heart that longs for eternity’ (Ecclesiastes 3:11), whether consciously or unconsciously, these memories of the soul are located. Because the concrete picture of love was my father's house. It is because there was a love that will be remembered soon in ‘My Father’s House’.
When I think of the thirst of the soul, the word that comes to mind is ‘the invitation of all people’ (Isaiah 55). “You who thirst, come to the water. Come even those who have no money. Come and buy and eat; come and buy wine and milk without money and without price...Seek ye the LORD while he may be found...You shall go forth in joy, and be led in peace...This is the honor of the LORD, It will become an everlasting sign and will not be cut off.” (Isaiah 55:1-13) 'Freely' here does not mean cheap, but it is based on the fact that God paid the price for it. It is the irresistible grace that God gave up His Son in the place of sinful mankind. It is God's unbreakable love, which means the 'way of the cross' (1 Corinthians 1:18-25).
If the picture of life we remember belongs to unbreakable true love, it is ‘grace’. If it is non-combustible, it is ‘non-grace’. Although Hemingway's family was a prestigious Christian family, it is said that he was a 'model of ungrace'. It was a family reminiscent of the background of his masterpiece ‘The Old Man and the Sea’. No action was permitted that would risk damaging the honor of the family that has been passed down from our grandfathers. However, in the parable of the prodigal son that Jesus spoke of, the second deviance and self-indulgence are also covered with love. The memories of his father's house helped him escape the crisis as a son. Fuller Theological Seminary Professor Lewis Smedes, in his book Shame and Grace, said that “the three main causes of destructive shame are secular culture, gracious religion, and unacceptable parents.” It should be a church, a family, and a faith that can have the ‘memories of the Father’s house’ that Jesus spoke of.
