Title: Messiah King
Contents
Psalm 2:7-13
I read up to 2:6 on the last Wednesday, so I will be able to move on to the next verse by remembering this, so I will summarize it a bit.
The princes of the world and the powerful people of the world became Satan's instruments and dared to challenge and oppose God, the King of heaven. That has been going on since then. To a large extent, nationally, and personally, it is to deny and disobey God. Because there is the blood of original sin that Adam and Eve had against God in the human body, there is a sign of being violent and trying to resist God by nature.
But when God saw this form from heaven, he laughed at it because it was so absurd and ridiculous. This is because it is absolutely absurd to think of such an idea against the God who makes and moves all things in this universe. So God made a decree in heaven. God decided to send the Messiah, the Son of God, to the holy city of Zion in order to judge these people, to restore God's rulership and to establish the kingdom of God.
From 7-9, God's command/declaration
7:I give the command of the LORD, and the LORD said to me, "You are my son; today I have begotten you.
These words are primarily God's words to King David and his descendants. you are my son the son I gave birth to The reason I said, “My son, you are my son,” is to say that you are my son and that you must restore my kingdom on my behalf. This son is said in the above verse to be a son of God's holy special designation, and therefore a great king with a special relationship with God.
Verse 7 The words of this declaration are that the author of Psalm 2 is proclaiming with great joy the words of God's revelation. Because it is such an honor for God to recognize and call a king who will rule over Israel in this way, we are proclaiming these words with a sense of excitement. When you say that you are my son and that I have begotten you, it means that God has chosen you and adopted you. And now that he is my son, it means that I will delegate my work to you.
So, how amazing is this? A person like me was chosen by God, the Lord of the universe today. Not to the extent of being chosen, but as a son. As a son, I inherited my father's work.
This is literally about the Davidic family and ultimately about Jesus, but spiritually it is about us. God has chosen us. And he made us children of God, and since we became children, he gave us the authority as children. And by sharing God's work with us, we are doing God's work.
In particular, the work of the church and the work of the mission were originally entrusted to Jesus by God. Jesus entrusted it to his disciples. The disciples did it through the church. Therefore, the mission of the disciples, the commission of Jesus, and the work of God are accomplished through the church, and it is truly a glorious thing to have us entrusted with the church.
I hope you will be able to thank God for this grace of choosing.
God said you are my son, but if I become the son of God, what does God become? It means becoming a father. God said that you are my son when the Davidic family was crowned king, but this is another way of saying, "God, I am your father." When Jesus was also baptized, God said in heaven that you are my beloved Son. You said This is my your father. That's what you said.
Jesus told his disciples that God is not only my Father, but also your Father. I did. So, in the prayer the Lord taught us, the first prayer of prayer is our Father in heaven, and the original text is Father, not Father. Dad. A father is different from a father. A father is a father when the children are at least teenagers, and a father is my father when they are young, so the father is the object of absolute trust, the object of ability, and the object of faith.
The word “God the Father” is a very long word, but I will not say it today and will tell you about it next time. In any case, dear saints, God is your Father. He is a very good father. He is perfect both in character and in strength. He is the master of everything. We should thank him for being our father.
8 Ask me, and I will give you the nations as your inheritance, and your possessions shall extend to the ends of the earth.
Now that you are a son and I am your father, this relationship begins. The Father is the King of the universe, King of Kings. Therefore, he is omnipotent and can do all things.
This man has promised to the royal family of David, and if you ask, I will give not only this Judah, but also all other nations besides Judah. I will let your possessions reach the land. This is a father promising his son an inheritance.
My father said that he would allow me to rule and rule over the world as an inheritance. Ordinary people would say this is nonsense, but you should know that the person who said this is the master of the universe. When you know that you are the Ruler of the universe, you will know that these words are not bluffs.
Actually, this is not an exaggeration. God has promised this to the saints. Revelation 2:(25) But hold fast what you have until I come (26) I will give authority over the nations to the one who overcomes and keeps my work to the end (27) He will rule them with a rod of iron, breaking earthen vessels, I will do the same, as I have received from my Father.
These are the words Jesus spoke to the church in Thyatira. Jesus said that God the Father gave me the privilege to rule over the nations, and I will give it to the saints who overcome to the end.
It is an expression that Jesus will give you a tremendous reward when you have a good life of faith until the end, overcome all trials in the world, receive eternal life and receive a reward.
In Genesis 11, after rebelling against God at the Tower of Babel incident, God separated peoples and languages. Since then, the world can be said to be a history of rebellion against God. There are things that constantly oppose and rebel against God. So the world constantly waged wars and battles, saying that the kings would make their own kingdom just because they were born and because they were strong.
At this time, God said that through David and his royal family, He would bring peace to the world and make it a prosperous nation. All the prophets are like this. This day will come. As the prophets prophesied, “Look at this and live,” the people of Israel waited and lived for that day.
But that day has really come. When King David reigned, when King Solomon reigned, we enjoyed peace and prosperity. God's promise has come true. When Solomon became king, prayers for devotion Psalm 72:8, (8) He will rule from sea to sea and from river to the ends of the earth (18) Praise the Lord God, who alone does wonders, the God of Israel (19) ) Blessed be his glorious name forever. Let the whole earth be full of his glory. Amen Amen The prayer of David the son of Jesse is needed. Such a day will come for God's kingdom and people. (7) In that day the righteous will prosper, and the abundance of peace will come to the end of the month.
In the days of David and Solomon, the people saw a little of this taste. Grinder This taste was soon gone and started again through Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Mark says it has been started again through Jesus Christ, and it is ongoing. When will it be completed? It will be completed on the day of the Second Coming of Christ. Then the day will come when we will reign forever and rule the world and the universe together with Jesus.
Verse 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt shatter them like earthen vessels.
Here you mean you, my beloved Son, the Messiah. The Messiah, the son, said that he would completely crush his enemies, but he would shatter them like earthen vessels. No enemy can win in the presence of this son, the king. Because the Almighty God of the universe is behind him and gives him strength. This great authority of the king comes from God. Because it is an authority that comes from God, it is able to completely subdue enemies and crush them to pieces.
Here comes the word iron rod, which in English is iron-rod. This is a symbol. The king at that time ruled with this iron rod scepter. The ruler is a very large hall, the small ruler is a little smaller than that The size of the hall is determined by the size of the power. When they saw the hall, people were afraid. Because the terrifying dominion came from it.
But God had promised to give the king the scepter of God to the Messiah. The general king's scepter has great authority and power, but how great is the scepter of God. It is to be given to the Messiah, the king appointed by God, and the rulership of heaven is delegated to him.
This mimicry was made by the military. This scepter is given to the commanders of the army to grant and recognize authority.
Even Moses, God gave him a scepter.
The staff and the scepter staff, although the material is a staff, since God gave him the scepter, the great power of God was exerted from that scepter.
10 So then, princes, acquire wisdom, and receive instruction, you judges of the earth.
After God, the ruler of the universe, has made kings and rulers aware of reality, he is telling them to calm down and listen to my advice.
It's even better in the English Bible. be wise; You are saying be warned, be wise and take advice.
So what does it mean to receive advice wisely and wisely?
In the text, to listen carefully to the words of the king, whom God anointed, is to listen carefully to the words of Jesus, and to obey the Lord, the Messiah, with joy and gladness. God expects. May all his creatures, especially the leaders of the nations, understand and obey God's warnings.
Brothers and sisters, we must accept this advice from God. We should be the ones who listen to Jesus' words carefully and obey His words with joy and joy.
(11) Serve the LORD with reverence, and rejoice with trembling.
(12) Kiss his son, or his wrath will cause you to perish on the way, for his wrath is swift; blessed are all who trust in the LORD.
Verses 11 and 12 tell us what the way to live wisely is. Serving the Lord with reverence and this word is service. It means to serve and be faithful to God, but do it with fear.
And rejoice, but rejoice with trembling. Rejoice in the Lord, but Serve the LORD with fear and rejoice with trembling. It's not about trembling emotionally and having fun, it's about being wise and prudent based on God's Word.
Philippians 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, always obey, not only in my presence, but much more now in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling.
12 In conclusion, he said, “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord.” In the conclusion of Psalm 1, the Lord approves of the way of the righteous, but the wicked refuses. He kissed Jesus, that is, those who respect and worship and trust in the Lord will be blessed, but otherwise they will perish.
The conclusion is only Jesus, only God, and only the gospel.
