Title: Micah 7

Content Micah 7

Micah explains Israel's spiritual decline. Judas and Jerusalem are both fruit fields where fruit was harvested. There are many leaves but no fruit to be found. This is the reality of Israel's spiritual corruption and corruption.

1. Israel's Sad Condition

“I am like summer after the fruit is harvested and after the grapes are harvested” (verse 1).

There are no clusters in the vineyard to eat, and there are no figs in the fig field (v. 1). This points to a lack of justice and morality among God's people. Here, "I am Zion." The state of Zion right now is like the fruit field after the fruit is harvested.

2. There is an explanation of the condition

“So good men are cut off from the world, and there is no upright man in man” (verse 2).

Judah is morally devastated. A “good man” is a godly man, and “a honest man is a moral man. The good man mainly comes from the psalms and emphasizes the practical side of the believer toward people.

The act of trying to catch a “brother with a net” (verse 2) is an act of a hunter trying to catch wild animals with a net. It is an expression of cunning and deceitful behavior. .

3. Discussing the rampant sins of Israeli society

“They are diligent in doing evil with their two hands” (verse 3).

Literally, they use their hands diligently to do evil. Their actions are evident in ① soliciting military commanders and bribes ② great people seeking greed. There is no one to depend on and trust. Everyone thinks only of his own interests and lacks morality toward others (verse 3). of a corrupt society.

4. There is the reality of the corrupt

“Even the best of them are like thorns” (verse 4).

The best are like thorns, and the most honest are like briers. This suggests that there are no people in that society who enforce justice and practice morality. Their moral depravity is revealed in more "the most honest than a hedge of briers" (v. 4).

Now for them “the day of their punishment” (v. 4) comes only.

5. There is a Advice to Israel

“You shall not trust your neighbor” (verse 5).

There are two types of recommendations.

(1) There is a situation in which a person cannot trust ① a neighbor ② a friend ③ a woman living with him (verse 5).

(2) This is that ① they despise their fathers, ② daughters against their mothers, and ③ daughters-in-law against their mother-in-law (verse 6). This suggests that there is a terrible discord within the family.

Therefore, “a man’s enemies become members of his own household” (verse 6).

Micah 7:7-20

After seeing the moral depravity and corruption of that society, the prophet lifts up his eyes and “looks up to the Lord” (verse 7). Human hope is not in the earth, but in the Lord above.

“My God will hear me” (verse 7). There is an amazing confession of faith from the prophet.

1. There is disappointment in the enemies

“Do not rejoice over me, my adversary” (verse 8).

(1) There is the attitude of a prophet

“My God will hear me” (verse 7). The attitude of a prophet who looks up to the Lord in the midst of suffering is the basic attitude that believers should have.

Even if God's love falls, it "rises up" (verse 8). This is the privilege of God's people.

(2) There is God's righteous discipline

“I have sinned against the LORD, and you have judged for me” (verse 9), “I have sinned against the LORD, and after being “judgmented” for it and being wrathed by the Lord, I have enjoyed the grace of “light” (verse 9). . First there is judgment of justice, then there is   God's guidance, and then there is light.

(3) The enemy will be completely destroyed (verse 10)

“My adversary will see this and be ashamed” (verse 10). When God’s people were afflicted before, the enemy had ridiculed “Where is the Lord your God?” (verse 10). Hinda” (verse 10). This is a picture of the enemy being completely destroyed and put to shame.

Enemies want God's people to be completely destroyed, but God makes "the enemy like clay" so that "people may see it" and know the righteousness of God (verse 9).

2. There is restoration of Jerusalem

“On the day you build your walls, on that day, your boundaries will be enlarged” (verse 11).

Two facts emerge

(1) It is the restoration of Jerusalem.

“The day of the building of the four walls” (v. 11), which is the literal rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem that had been destroyed.

(2) Those who were scattered come back.

… People will come back to you, but “(Verse 12) the exiles of Judah are precious,” from Assyria to Egypt, from Egypt to Hasu, and from sea to sea “means the scattering of the Jews is extensive.

The people who lived here return to “Judah”. Because of this, “the land” from which the people of Judah left becomes a wasteland.

3. There is a prayer for Jehovah’s intervention

“I beseech you, with your rod you will feed your people….. your inheritance” (verse 14).

(1) I hope again for Jehovah's mercy in the past.

“Make them like the old days”

(2) There is a petition that humbles the nations.

“When the nations see it, they will be ashamed of their power, and they will shut their mouths with their hands” (verse 16).

(3) Recall the mercy of the Lord.

“In mercy . . . you forgive iniquity” (verse 18).

(4) Jehovah's promises are presented

“As the Lord swore to our ancestors in ancient times (verse 20), this is a wonderful psalm that praises the former justice of God. “Remember the addition of mercy and the oath you swore to your ancestors (verse 14).

Jehovah's blessing is based on previous words.
