Sermons for Preaching

Title: middle text

Contents Title: Seongmun Middle Water

Bible: Neh 3:15-32

Continuing from last week, looking at the sixth to tenth gates among the ten gates in the middle of Nehemiah's wall, I hope that you will become victors who become indicators of the life of faith through the spiritual grace and meaning given to us. Grace filled with the Holy Spirit Hope you have a good time.

Sixth: There was a spring gate at the gates of Jerusalem.

“The fountain gate was repaired by Salun son of Golhosse, who ruled in the region of Mizpah, and he built and covered the gates, fitted the doors, fitted them with locks and bars, and also repaired the wall at the pool of Shelah near the king’s garden to the stairway that came down from the City of David.” verse 16)

'Summun' was located about 120m north of 'Bunmun', and 'Siloammo' was right in front of it. The reason why this place is the fountain gate is because outside the gate there was the Pool of Shelah called the Pool of Siloam. This gate symbolizes the Spirit of Life in that it supplies water to the temple.

Seventh: There was a floodgate.

“In those days the Nethinim dwelt in Ober, from the place facing the water gate on the east side to the tower that was brought out” (verse 26).

The spring gate is the place where water is supplied to the temple, while the sluice gate is the place where the people's drinking water is supplied. The Nethinim people built this place, and the RSV translated it as 'temple servant'. These are the Gibeonites who made a covenant with Joshua by deceiving Joshua out of fear of being destroyed by Israel in the days of Joshua.

Eighth: There was a demon gate.

“From above the gate, the priests repaired each part facing the house” (verse 28). This gate was a gate on the eastern wall (Jeremiah 31:40), and was used for entering horses or people on horseback. It was a door. It is presumed that this 'Magate' was the gate leading to Solomon's old royal palace. The wall extending to the north above this gate was built by the priests. Opposite it was the house of the priests. The devil here symbolizes the good fight of prayer. That is, when the Holy Spirit comes upon us, we are taught to pray.

Ninth: I have alumni.

“Then the east gate keeper Shemaiah the son of Shecaniah repaired it” (verse 29). 10) Not sure. However, what is clear is that, given the fact that the keeper of the east gate was a Levite, it can be seen that the gate that enters and exits the temple is closely related to the city gate or the temple gate.

Tenth: There is a Hammib Gatmun.

“Next to this, Malkijah, the gilded man, repaired the part facing the gate of Hammibgad, and came from the houses of the Nethinimites and merchants to Nuu on the corner of the city” (verse 31). ), etc., the general argument of scholars is regarded as a prison gate. And goldsmith refers to an ironsmith who handles metal such as gold. This door is a foreshadowing of the judgment of Christ that will appear after the end of human history.
