the miracles of the disciples
[John 6:1-21]
We call the miracle of the text the miracle of the five-year-old fish. The disciples of Jesus Christ were at the scene of this miracle. Jesus performed this amazing miracle through his disciples. In this text, we will share grace by examining the development of more devoted disciples in the crowd.
To become a disciple who participates in miracles, we must first start our faith journey in the form of a crowd. Many of the followers of Jesus were still at a level of ups and downs, formalities, and selfishness.(2) They do not yet show a mature faith. But they were following Jesus for whatever reason. Faith starts here. It's about coming to Jesus for whatever reason. Jesus was merciful and gracious to them and made up for their lack.
disciple of calculated faith
In the text, Philip is participating in the ministry of Jesus Christ. Seeing the flock like sheep who lost their shepherd, they have compassion and are participating in the Lord's interest in filling their lack. It is only when you have a heart that transcends your selfish interests and embraces God's wishes, you can walk the path of discipleship. But Philip is still at the level of computational faith. He has neither the ability nor the determination to dedicate 200 denarii, but the Lord recognizes him as a disciple and leads him on the path of growth through questions.
disciple who entrusts little things
Andrew is a much more mature disciple.(9) He introduced a child to Jesus. This is what the disciple looks like. Disciples are those who believe and practice the miracles of the Lord through anyone, even if it is not me. Although it was too small for his own calculations, he was confident that something would change when it was entrusted to Jesus. This complete trust of the disciples becomes the channel that moves the Lord's power. From that time on, the Lord worked, and the disciples became more obedient, and a good influence began to spread to people through the disciples. Even after they were satisfied, they continued obedience, and did not neglect a single piece.(12) Through the disciples' obedience, our wishes come true.(11)
The goal of the disciple is to receive
The completion of discipleship is achieved through receiving Jesus Christ. It is necessary to meditate deeply on the words of verse 21. When we accept Jesus Christ, we achieve the goal of life that our souls intrinsically desire. The common confession of many people who have experienced life's failures is that, despite their best efforts, they achieved their goals in life, but they never turned out to be what they dreamed of as a child. If we accept Jesus Christ and live a life of obedience, the Lord, the Lord of our lives, decorates and fills our lives with the most beautiful image. This is the most important life blessing given to the disciples. Is the life path you are walking on truly the path you have longed for? Receive Jesus Christ and live a blessed life of arriving where you are going.
