Title: Miracles through Elisha
Contents:
In Elisha's first miracle, in 2:8, when Elijah's clothes were picked up, rolled up and washed, the waters of the Jordan River split and a path was created. The second transfer today also happened due to water issues. Seeing the miracle of the water splitting from Elisha, the townsfolk consulted Elisha about water problems. The location of the city is good, but the water is bad and the soil falls off before it is ripe. Elisha had the solution come in a new bowl with salt. Elisha took the new bowl with salt, went to the fountain of water, and threw it into the midst, saying the word of the Lord, that I have healed the water, and there will be no more death or unripe fruit from it, and it was fulfilled.
the people's request
The location is good, but the water is bad, so the soil does not ripen and falls. Jericho has rivers flowing from the Judean hills to the lowlands, wide plains, and abundant palm and fig trees. Even though they were in such a good position, for some reason the fruits were not plentiful. This is not just about the earth, it is about everything on the earth. When a lot of young people die, the locals also tell us why. The people of Jericho believed in Elisha as a servant of God and came to solve the problem.
Elisha's Miracle
Put salt in a new vessel. The new vessel symbolizes the power of God to renew. Salt is a symbol of God's covenant. God's promises are not for everyone. There must be new changes. God's work begins when we have a newly transformed personality through the blood of Jesus.
Elisha's miracle has two characteristics.
First, throwing it into the water source does not mean that the bottom of the water has changed a little, but it should bring about a fundamental change. The people of Jericho had a good foundation, but they thought that the land was not ripe or that fire was the cause of the rapid death of people and animals, but Elisha knew the original problem. They became a land cursed with idols and wickedness. Elisha's new bowl and sprinkling salt on the source symbolize God's covenant, the sprinkling of Jesus' blood.
Second, proclaim change in the name of God
Elisha declared that this miracle was not the power of new vessels or salt, but the word of God's mouth.
