Moses and Jesus
Let's look to Jesus in chapter 2 In verse 3, there is a saying, "Consider Jesus." The text compares the work of Jesus Christ with the work of Moses. Although the Jews regarded Moses as the greatest man on earth and respected him, they had the wrong idea that Jesus was only one of the prophets. Did Moses suffer so much and suffer persecution in order to reveal himself? No, he was faithful to reveal Jesus, the Savior.
So, the writer of Hebrews says that Moses must be a faithful servant before God just like Jesus Christ, but Jesus Christ has a reason to be glorified more than Moses. Verse 2-------Jesus was “loyal to the one who appointed him”. He was faithful as a high priest and apostle.
Moses was also an apostle of God to his people and a priest. In the process of Moses liberating the Israelites and leading them to the welfare of Canaan, indescribable pain follows.
But because of these wonders, signs, and powers, the people gradually saw Moses and glorified him. So, the Lord gave Moses power and made him perform wonders and miracles, which he used as a tool to show and testify to Jesus. The deep meaning is not to realize it, but rather to look at Moses in a big way. Moses only worked as a servant for the Lord who raised him, but he did not see the master, but saw the servant as great.
The writer of Hebrews, who was moved by the Holy Spirit, compared Moses and Jesus Christ on the subject of loyalty, and then said that Jesus Christ should be glorified more because he is superior to Moses.
The reason is that Moses was faithful as a creature, and Jesus was faithful as the Creator.
Verse 3-4 says, “He deserves more glory than Moses, as the builder of a house is more honorable than his house.”
Here, it means “house,” “people of God,” or “the saved crowd.” So, it is not a simple building, but a person as a personal house. Who built such a person? Our Lord built it. So it is the fact that the Lord who built the house is more glorious and honorable than the house. He said these words because he looked at and thought of Moses, a part of the house, without thinking about it. He had completely forgotten the Creator.
Moses was only a part of that house, no matter how prominent he was in Israel. But Jesus built the house with his own blood (Acts 20:28). Therefore, it is only natural that Jesus, the Creator of the house, should give and receive glory and honor rather than Moses, the creature who belongs to that house.
Jesus is the splendor of God's glory and the image of the original building. He created, possesses, and preserves all things. But Moses is a creature that belongs to all things, created by Jesus Christ. Therefore, Jesus Christ should be glorified more than Moses.
This is because Moses was faithful as a servant, and Jesus was faithful as a son.
Text verses 5-6-------The work entrusted to Moses was the work of a servant. That is, it was the work of a manager and a person in charge of the holy work. This is his position. Moses was faithful as a servant in 『All the House』. Therefore, the glory of Moses was that he was used in every part of the whole house.
But the loyalty of Jesus Christ is loyalty as the Son. Loyalty as an heir in charge of the house. Jesus was the son in charge of the house, and Moses was the servant of the house. That is, Jesus was in charge of his own house, and Moses was in someone else's house. Therefore, the person who deserves more glory than Moses is Jesus Christ. But people idolized such Moses. They gave honor and glory to such Moses and trusted such Moses.
This is because Moses was faithful as a prophet and Jesus was faithful as a fulfiller.
Verse 5 says, “Moses testified of what he said in the future.”
Moses served the house of God by witnessing to what was said in the future: the gospel. However, Jesus Christ worked in the very essence of what Moses said, and is a realized reality. Moses is a shadow and a witness. But Jesus is real. Moses prophesied, and Jesus fulfilled it. Moses was the one who introduced the main character, and Jesus is the main character Moses was talking about.
Therefore, Jesus deserves more glory than Moses.
Moses is a temporary servant. But Jesus is the eternal Son. Moses is a witness of things to come. But Jesus is the perfect fulfillment. Moses is the servant of the house. But Jesus is the owner of the house. Moses is part of the house. But Jesus is the builder of the house. Moses loved God. But Jesus is the essence of God. Therefore, only Jesus deserves greater glory than Moses.
Dear saints, The Jews revered Moses as the greatest leader. Such Jews rejected Jesus, the Son of God. They respected Moses, who was faithful as a servant in the house of God, but rejected Jesus, who was the heir to the house of God. If Moses were to be glorified, Jesus deserved much more glory than that. Although Moses was only a prophecy of the coming Son of God as God's servant (Deuteronomy 18:15), the Jews glorified Moses and gave no glory to Jesus at all.
Even though he was despised, despised, and persecuted by his people, Jesus died for them. His people rebelled against him, but he chose the path of victory by dying for men. Jesus seemed defeated, but he triumphed. Because Jesus had the authority to rule this world, he was able to avoid death by mobilizing the angels before the crucifixion. But Jesus chose death because only death was recognized as the son of God's house.
Therefore, those who are together as holy brothers with the heavenly calling should think deeply about Jesus, who is the apostle and High Priest of the believer. Glory and honor must be returned. You have to hold on tight to the end.
Because Jesus was faithful as the Creator, not as a creature. Because Jesus was faithful as a son, not a servant. Because Jesus was faithful as a fulfiller, not a prophet
