Title: Moses Called All / Exodus 36
God made the stone tablets of the broken covenant again and again issued the word of the covenant (Exodus 34, 35). And here in chapter 36, He had the tabernacle rebuilt. He made the tabernacle again in the same way as instructed in Exodus 26. God wants to meet us in the tabernacle.
1 “Moses called all whom he desired in his heart to do the work” (1-2)
To build the tabernacle, Moses called together those who would offer gifts to God and those who would build the tabernacle. But no one could do it. Only "the wise in heart, to whom the LORD has given wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all that is necessary for the sanctuary" could do it (1). So Moses "got wisdom from the LORD in his heart, and he called all those who desired to come and do it" (2) Blessed are those who are favored, moved, and called.
2. “Because the people bring too much” (3-7)
Now the people have answered the call. He answered the call to offering and service. To build the house of God, both gifts and service are needed.
In order to make the tabernacle, the materials to make the membrane were first needed. Several types of materials were required. But the people of Israel "brought a voluntary offering every morning" (3). "The people brought so much that there was leftover for the work which the LORD had commanded" (5). So Moses gave an order to bring no more gifts, and the people stopped bringing them (6).
In this way, when a person receives grace (or like the Macedonian churches, 2 Corinthians 8:2), he becomes plentiful in giving freely, and when he does not receive grace (like the church in Corinth, 2 Corinthians 11:9, 12:13), his heart becomes stingy and gives. lack of work The house of God needs various gifts. Time, material, body, talent, tears, love, prayers, and gifts of praise are all needed. Above all, God commands us to offer our bodies as a living, holy sacrifice (Romans 12:1).
3 “All the wise in heart among those who worked, built the tabernacle” (8-37)
Those who work in the house of God are those whose hearts have been moved by the Holy Spirit and become wise. The seven deacons of the early church were all "full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, and praiseworthy" (Acts 6:3).
Here, from verses 8 to 37, different kinds of people made different kinds of things. That is, as commanded in Exodus 26, "made a veil from goat's hair," "made a covering for a curtain from ram's skin, and made a covering from sea otter's skin." Then, "made boards out of carved wood," "made forty silver sockets," and "made of carved wood. "I made a belt" and "made a sheet" of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn. It means that many people, this person, that person, connect with each other and build the house of God. The service in the temple is to be done in connection with one another. No matter how precious prayer or service is, when it is performed in connection with each other, it will be used.
