Philippians 2:5-11
Some pastor said "Nowadays, the saints cannot distinguish whether they are living a life of faith for God or for themselves."
What I mean is that there were very few believers who had the Lord as their king and absolutely obeyed his commands. It means that there are many people who use the Lord to satisfy their own interests. It is undeniable that there really are such people, no matter what you do.
We find people like this in the Bible as well. Judas Iscariot was such a person, and many of those who ate 5 bottles of 2 fish of miracle bread were such people, and 9 out of 10 lepers were such people.
The Lord was with His disciples in the region of Caesarea Philippi. It was the headquarters of the Roman army in charge of the Middle East. So there were hundreds of thousands of Roman soldiers majestic encamped there. The Jews would have been envious of them.
There Jesus asks his disciples. "Who do people say I am? And who do you think I am?"
Peter responds promptly to this. "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." The Lord praised him, "I answered him well, but it is my Father in heaven who made it known."
Immediately after this conversation, the Lord tells us that He will go up to Jerusalem, suffer many things, die on the cross, and rise again on the third day. However, Peter could not understand the words well, and unconditionally said, "Lord, please don't do that." But when the Lord saw him, he rebuked him severely, saying, "Get behind me, Satan, you are a stumbling block to me. You do not think about the things of God, but the things of men."
So we can see that Peter's confession of faith was not a confession of faith that came from his own person. It is just a confession that God made known and said. In other words, it can be said that he unconsciously said what God said without thinking.
Existence and awareness of being are not necessarily the same thing. The existence of Christ, the being of the Lord, the known Jesus, and the confessing Jesus may not necessarily be the same Jesus.
The Lord is the One who loves us unchangingly and gives us grace. However, since the hearts and eyes of those who see the Lord are of different colors, they appear blue to those with blue hearts and red to those with red hearts, which means that there is a big difference between the existence of the Lord and the perception of knowing the Lord.
We get a lot of information from newspapers. Most people have a habit of believing the media reports as they are. At some point in the newspaper, it was reported that 'this is what it is', and the person who said it says, 'It's not that, the newspaper misrepresented what I said.' So people get confused about which one is true. But this is not very important.
The important thing is that people misunderstand Jesus that way. Peter confessed that the Lord was the Son of the living God. However, they are actively opposing the saying that the Lord died and rose again in three days. His confession of faith and his actions do not match. His confession of faith is overly divine, but his restraints are purely human. So, in Peter's heart, the divine and the human coexist.
He sees the sick as doctors, the lost as political messiahs, the oppressed as revolutionaries, and the poor as miracles. They even see the color of Jesus' skin as their own. Jesus originally had the same yellow skin as ours. However, white people make Jesus completely white, black people turn Jesus into black people, and our country artist Ki-wook Kim turns Jesus into a yangban with a large cap.
So it is really difficult for us to see Jesus as Jesus. Our prejudices, the prejudices of the people, and the prejudices of theologians have ruined the original image of Jesus.
A mother raised her child. On her fifteenth birthday, the mother sang a roar. The local ladies asked why. The mother's answer was tragic. "I raised my child for 15 years. But now I am in so much pain. As you know, this child is an idiot and a crippled child. After raising 15 years, she still does not know that I am her mother and does not know how to call her mother. are you?"
Even though you have believed in God for 15 years, you do not know how to see the face of God as it is. Even though you believe in Jesus for three or four years, you do not know how to read the heart of Jesus as it is.
There is a story that a person who lived a religious life under foreign government believed Jesus as the One who would set our nation free for the rest of his life, and only then came to know that ?쏪esus died for sinners and saves sinners??only when he died. Because he had seen Jesus with love for the country all his life, he thought of Jesus as Yu Gwan-sun's older sister, and only saw the true face of Jesus when he died.
Some people even know that a person with a lot of resentment is 'Major Lee', a Chinese actor who is good at fighting to get revenge on Jesus. It's really boring.
Jesus always called you "Son of man----Son of man" during his lifetime. However, people call Jesus Lord, Teacher, or Rabbi, but never call him ?쏶on of Man.??The word Son of Man here also means the Son of Man, but in the book of Daniel, it is used as a judge. So, even if people call Jesus the Son of Man, it is not rude, but they do not call Jesus the Son of Man.
But one man, Stephen, says this. As he is stoned to death, he says, "I saw the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
How many trials, hardships, teachings, love, devotion, and faith and evidences and years have passed before the confession of faith, ?쐔he only begotten son of the Father, full of grace and truth??comes out of his bones, his character, his flesh, and his soul. I don't know if there was.
In today's text, Paul's confession of faith is found. This is also called Paul's 'Christology'. In other words, Paul is gathering the true image of Jesus in these words. When we know Jesus according to these words, we can know the true Jesus. ?쏥od highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father ??[Philippians 2:9-11]
In these words, Jesus is the name that is above all names, the name that makes all creation kneel before him, and the one whom all creation must confess that he is Lord is our Jesus.
So, a person who makes a name for himself because he is better than Jesus, a proud person who does not kneel before Jesus, and a person who does not acknowledge Jesus as Lord are sinners.
1) Jesus is God Himself.
But he became a man and came to save people. He became a man, but appeared as a servant. Here, the word 'body' and 'form' both use the word 'morte'. In the case of Jesus, there is a separate body, and Jesus is not in a form, but Jesus is the substance and form of God.
To put it simply, Jesus is essentially God. To know this way is to know Jesus properly. If we think otherwise, it is not that we know the true nature of Jesus, but that we are mistaken for the grace that the Lord has bestowed upon us with Jesus.
It is like a married bride who receives a gift from her groom and that gift does not make her husband. The grace that God has given us is only grace, not God Himself.
2) Jesus became a man.
Just as Jesus who became a man does not know what he knows, just as he can do it but cannot do it, even though he has power, he is not, just as he was righteous and yet a sinner, just as God is God and came to us as a human being. It is purely for the salvation of sinners. He became obedient even to death to save sinners. It is for the same reason that he rose again.
The prince who became a beggar in the story of a prince and a beggar tries to rule as a king even though he has a beggar shape. So you cannot fully know the life of a beggar. Jesus is God. But he became a sinner. Even though God was born, He did not intend to become a sinner, but sinned like a sinner. You are willing to do it.
Even if people call Jesus a king, they do not want to be king. Even when people sing 'Hosanna Hosanna', he rides on a donkey and goes on the road. The word 'Hosanna' means "Praise the King."
However, all those who called on Jesus in that way left the Lord at one point. They called Jesus ?쏫ing??with their mouths, not with their hearts.
Our profession of faith is not in our mouths and words, but in our hearts and in our souls.
When we believe in the Lord with our hearts and confess with our mouths, we can receive a lot of grace from the Lord. By being taught by Him, we can be perfected, our sins can be forgiven, and we can live with the authority of God's children.
Jesus is not a past in history, but a living reality in history. When we believe in that name and make a sincere profession of faith, miracles and miracles appear there. When we believe in Jesus with sincere faith, the dead can come back to life and have eternal life.
We must not see the illusion of Jesus. You must not see the mirage of Jesus. We must see the reality of Jesus.
On the 6.25th, American soldiers who were killed by enemy bullets on the battlefield usually died asking for a 'cup of fresh milk'. But as our soldiers died, they called 'Mother' and died. I've heard that American children grow up on milk, and our children grow up on mother's sauce.
Whose name should we call our last name on the day we die? Look at Stephen. ?쏬ord Jesus, receive my soul!??I cried out and fell asleep. Jesus forgives our sins, lives with us, accepts our souls, and in due time will resurrect our bodies. Therefore, the last name we will call should be Jesus.
The Lord said, "Behold, I am with you to the end of the world." Let's exalt this name, rely on this name, and rely on its power to live a victorious life.
