Title: Moving Forward Main Text: Exodus 4:19-31

The Word to us on the first Sunday of the new year is a moving life. The text of the text tells Moses to go back to Egypt. Exodus 4:19 “And the LORD said to Moses in Midian, Go back to Egypt, for all those who tried to kill you are dead.” It is to go to Egypt. Moses may be able to live comfortably and safely in the wilderness of Midian, but if he does, Canaan is not with him. Returning to Egypt is unsettling and terrifying for Moses. Where is Egypt? This is the land where Moses fled after killing the Egyptians. It is where the people who tried to find and kill Moses live. Egypt is a place where the Israelites are suffering as slaves. Egypt is a place with powerful weapons, armies, and powers that Moses or the people of Israel could not resist. But God commands Moses to go.

1. Even if it seems impossible, move forward.

Also, God, who commanded Moses to go, prepared a weapon for Moses. Those are the 10 plagues. He prepared 10 plagues to defeat Pharaoh and 10 plagues to bring Pharaoh to his knees. And he prepared people. He had prepared Aaron to assist Moses. For Moses who was going to Egypt, God prepared the way, God's power, and man.

2. For those who advance, God guarantees victory.

Exodus 3:20 When Pharaoh sends the Israelites away, it means that Moses is victorious. The words in Exodus 4:8 also promise Moses' victory. God does not promise to fail. God promises us only victory. God is with us, and victory is sure to await those who believe in God's commands and move forward. However, we live in anxiety and worry because we lack faith. Your life will not fail if you are convinced that you are now living according to the Word of God.

3. Those who move forward must become those who use what they have used for themselves for God.

Exodus 4:20 says that Moses took the staff of God in his hand to leave for Egypt. This shows that Moses' future mission in Egypt will be accomplished not by Moses' own thoughts and methods, but by God's initiative and power. The phrase ‘he held the staff of God in his hand’ means ‘Moses was holding the staff of God in his hand.’ Originally, this staff was used by Moses when shepherding the sheep. This shepherd's staff has now become a staff that guides God's people through God's miracles. The staff he used to shepherd his sheep, the staff he used for his own gain, and the staff he used for his own life are now used as God's staff according to God's word. At that time, this staff became a staff of power. Saints! If I, who lived for myself, become a person who lives for God, God will work through me, perform miracles, and achieve victory.

4. The ultimate purpose of moving forward is because of salvation.

Exodus 3:8 The purpose of Moses going to Egypt is to save the people who are crying out in pain. The reason he gave Moses power and told him to go to Egypt was to save the people. The reason God has given us blessings and the reason we have made our homes safe is for the salvation of mankind. The reason I live on this earth, the reason I have a job on this earth, and the reason I have a family on this earth is to be used for the salvation of mankind. We need to know right away what purpose God has established us for in 2010. No matter how well you do everything, if you do not live the life of saving souls, you cannot live the life of a perfect Christian. We hope that this year, we will become saints who can save even one of our brothers and sisters who cry out in the agony of sin.
