my amazing child
Ephesians 6:1-4
Parents are responsible for raising their children as children of God. It's not the church's school's responsibility, nor the teachers' responsibility. They are only helping parents to raise their children spiritually. So how can we raise our children to be amazing children? What is the spiritual foundation that will make my child's life successful?
1. Let them know that they are designed for the pleasure of God. The life our children will live is not our own, nor is it about ourselves. Their lives belong to God, who made them, and their lives are about God. Because life was created for the pleasure of God.
2. Let them become like Jesus Christ. They were created to be like Jesus Christ. Our children are under a lot of stress living in a world that teaches us to compare, compete, and win. God told us to teach them to worship the idols of the world and not be like them.
3. Let them do what they serve. Our children were created to serve. The three basic temptations of life are to enjoy pleasure, to possess more, and to attain high status. But we are created for good works. (Deuteronomy 6:18,19) Let's give up the life of constantly satisfying our own needs and become a caring and serving person for the needs of others.
The purpose of life is not to go to a good college, get a good job, get a good spouse, and live a happy life. The end of such a life is only retirement and death. When our children live for God, imitate Jesus Christ, and live a life of service, they will eventually receive an eternal reward.
