Bible: Acts 9:15-22 Title: My Chosen Vessel
At the end of the movie, there is an ending credit. These are the names of the people who worked hard to make the film. The ‘ending credits’ of at least five people who worked behind the scenes for Saul’s conversion are ‘Steven the martyr, the resurrected Jesus Christ, Ananias as a spiritual mentor, Barnabas as a co-worker, and the Holy Spirit as the Comforter. And the 'ending credits' for fulfilling the mission as an apostle are the names of Romans 16. In order for a soul to be born again or for ministers to become servants used for the Lord, there must be a lot of hard work and dedication of ‘end credits’.
1. Ending credits of Saul's conversion
1) Stephen the martyr
The young Saul was an accomplice with those who shed the blood of the martyrs at the scene of Stephen's martyrdom (Acts 7). Stephen's sermon was that God is not confined in the temple, the Jewish ancestors did not obey Moses and the prophets sent by God. He persecuted and killed them, and rebuked them for committing the sin of killing the righteous Jesus. Stephen's martyrdom led to martyrdom, and Seongyo became an opportunity for Saul to meet Jesus. When Saul saw the blood of Stephen, he walked the worst path.
2) Resurrected Jesus
Saul fell to the ground and heard a sound as a light suddenly appeared from heaven on the road to Damascus. The event of conversion is a dramatic turning point in Saul's life. Saul was led by people into Damascus, and he prayed while he was unable to see for three days.
3) Mentor Ananias
The Lord prepared Ananias through him to put his hands on Saul, to see, to be filled with the Holy Spirit, and to be baptized. The normal procedure is to repent of your sins, believe in Jesus, confess your faith, baptize, receive the Holy Spirit, put your hands on your hands, and give your office, and then go to work. However, Saul met Jesus directly, received his hands on his hands through Ananias, opened his eyes, and was filled with the Holy Spirit and then baptized. He immediately proclaimed that Jesus was the Son of God. Saul's conversion was completely changed within one week.
4) Co-worker and supporter Barnabas
Barnabas was not a competitor, but a supporter and co-worker of Paul. When the disciples were skeptical about Saul's dramatic conversion, Barnabas actively defended Saul and gave guarantees so that he could make friends with the disciples, lead Saul to stand as an evangelist, and play an intermediate role as a supporter. gave
5) Holy Spirit the Comforter
Paul is an apostle who enjoyed the grace of the Holy Spirit, the Comforter that Jesus Christ promised to the apostles. (John 14:26) The Holy Spirit enabled Saul to systematically do the theology of the Holy Spirit for three years in Arabia. (Galatians 1) :12) Paul knew Jesus and the gospel through the theology of the Holy Spirit and wrote his epistles.
2. It is my chosen vessel (1 Timothy 2:20-21)
When Saul was broken, washed, healed, changed, and changed, he became a large vessel that was used as a precious vessel. Disposable cup noodle bowls and Haengnam porcelain bowls have different values. If your thoughts, language, and actions do not change, you will not become a good vessel. The vessel containing the King Jesus (heart and disposition), the vessel containing the Holy Spirit (the person of the Holy Spirit), and the vessel bearing the Father’s name (the Father’s children) must be different.
The laying on of hands is to leave Paul a witness of being set apart and chosen by the Lord, and the eyes are opened with the Holy Spirit and prepared as good vessels. We too are to be the glorious chosen vessels for the use of our King, the Lord.
