Sermon Title: “My Friend, Abraham”

(1) Creation work
㉠ (2 Corinthians 4:16) “Therefore, we do not lose heart, for our outward man is aging, but our inward man is being renewed day by day!” (1 Peter 1:23) "For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of immortal seed, by the word of the living and abiding God." The Bible speaks of “the creation of a new human being”. God's work of creation is continuing in the present in a new dimension.
㉡The creation of the heavens and the earth in Genesis 1 ends with (Genesis 2:2). (Genesis 2:2) "God 'finished' (- complete, complete, fully attain) all the work he had been doing until the sixth day, and on the seventh day he 'released' (put down) his hands from all that he was doing and rested. " However, in the second creation story starting from (Genesis 2:3), God's creation work is not completed at some point, but is directly connected to the complex human reality.
㉢After all, the story of the second creation does not end at some point and continues, through the incarnation of Christ and leading to the new creation in the book of Revelation.
(2) New creation work
㉠ Religion is ‘the work of a human being to grow as a human being through reverence for the Creator’. Faith is growing up to come to Christ Jesus, who is the image of God. The work of growth and growth itself is salvation, that is, the work of new creation.
㉡ (Ephesians 4:15) "But in 'love' (αγαπη) 'doing the truth' (αληθευω - being truthful in doctrine and confession, speaking the truth) in all things grow up into him. He is the head, which is Christ. ." Therefore, the “true thing” is “living with faith in the Creator”. The things we claim to be true are the things that lead us into a greater contradiction and despair. This is called ‘idol worship’.
㉢Therefore, faith is “to become one person only by living by believing in God”. (2 Corinthians 5:17) "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation!" It is not a creature desperate in its own contradictions, but a new species who fears God and lives a life of salvation.

(1) getting old
㉠ ‘When you grow old, you become a baby again?’ Does this make sense? So can it be? Even if it's not as much as a library, if you lived your life for 7 to 80 years, how much wisdom would you have gained from it? If you live your life that much, how mature and mature will you be?
㉡Hagin (Job 32:9) “It is not that being wise as an adult, nor understanding justice as an old man. Still can't speaks in the bible (Leviticus 19:32) "Rise up before your strong head, honor the face of the old man, and fear your God. I am the LORD."
㉢God is saying this through the lives of our ancestors that the Bible testifies. Look at the life of Abraham, the father of faith. Like other ancestors, it was <a life of growing up while experiencing failure and overcoming before God>.
(2) Abraham's failure
㉠ (Genesis 15:1-6) "I am your shield and your exceedingly great reward... Sovereign LORD, what will you give me?... One who will come from your body shall be your heir... Your offspring. like this one (the uncountable stars)
㉡ And God makes a “covenant” with Abraham and his descendants (Genesis 15:1-21). Abraham cut the middle of the sacrifices in two and waited until late at night. At last the Lord comes and declares an oath, and he passes through the pieces of meat with a burning torch.
㉢ However, Abraham and Sarah have a son through Hagar, a maidservant. After this failure, God, who had been silent for 13 years, spoke to Abraham again. (Genesis 17:1) "When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to Abram and said to him, "I am God Almighty. Walk before me and be perfect."
(3) What God wants
㉠ If you read the Bible in the New Translation (Genesis 17:1) "When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, "I am God Almighty. Obey me and live without blemish."
㉡ Abraham believed God, and it was counted as his righteousness (Genesis 15:6). But Abraham was not perfect in trusting God. And God, who had been watching, appeared at the right time and spoke to the 99-year-old Abraham.
㉢ “You will live perfectly in front of me!” This is what our Sovereign Lord God wants of us his children and of us his people After that, Abraham would offer his son as a burnt offering to God without hesitation, even if he was 100 years old (Genesis 22:).

(1) To a relationship of complete trust!
㉠ When he sacrificed his son Isaac (Genesis 22:12), he said, “Now I know that you fear God (“Now, you are made perfect!”), until the end of your life at the age of 175. For over 60 years, <Finally!> God will no longer appear directly to Abraham.
㉡The Bible speaks of Abraham after that in one single line. (Ge 24:1) "Abraham is now an old man. The Lord has blessed him in everything he did." It means that now he has blessed him without any worries or doubts.
㉢And in (Isaiah 41:8) God is called “My friend (-My dear friend) Abraham”. That is how Abraham grew up.
(2) Listen! He speaks through the apostle. (Col 1:9-12) “We ask God to fill you with the knowledge of the will of God with all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May you please Him in all things by living worthy of Him. and to bear fruit in every good work, to know God more and more, to be strengthened with all the power that comes from the power of His glory, and endure to the end with joy, so that you may qualify for the inheritance of the saints. Father, we hope that you will give thanks in the light."
