Bible: Joel 2:28-32
God alone is our hope and happiness. The more difficult it is, the closer we get to God, and God always pours out His grace and love. Because God makes all things work together for good. Dr. Leslie Wedhead said, "The opposite of joy is not sadness, it is unbelief." If you have faith, you can smile even in a sad place. Although the world is full of hardships and sorrows, I hope that we can all experience the amazing miracle of God who does great things by serving God who does great things.
First: God Gives Missions
“At that time I will also pour out my Spirit on male and female servants.” (29) Joel, like Ezekiel, foresaw the future when God would pour out the Holy Spirit with great power on everyone. The Holy Spirit is not poured out impersonally, but through abundant spiritual communion with God incessantly. Children would prophesy, the old men would dream dreams, and the young men would see visions. Moses said that when the Spirit of God came, he would become a prophet. God told the prophets that He would make himself known through dreams and visions and that He would also speak the word.
Second: God of Restoration
“Afterward I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your children will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions” (verse 28), the prophet Joel proclaimed God's promise of the coming of the Holy Spirit . He promised that the Holy Spirit would be poured out on the people of Israel who repented and returned to God. Because when you receive the Holy Spirit, you will come to understand the will of God, the ability to put it into practice will be revealed, and you will be able to boldly carry out your mission. God said that He pours out this Holy Spirit on all people without discrimination.
Third: God Who Gives Salvation
“Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved, for there will be some who will take refuge in Mount Zion and Jerusalem, as the LORD has said, and among the remnant there will be those whom the LORD has called” ( verse 32). To call is to call to get closer to God. To call is to seek the Lord, and salvation is guaranteed for such ones. It seems that the salvation of all Israel has been lost due to the plague of serious disobedience, but God remembers His covenant and saves the remnant. In the end, those who are called by the Lord stand out as important, suggesting that those who will ultimately be saved are a very selected few. Salvation belongs only to Jehovah. No other gods can save anyone.
