Title: My Mother, Mrs. Lee Young-soon
My Mother, Mrs. Lee Young-soon
Text: John 19:25-27
“And his mother and his aunt, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene stood beside the cross of Jesus. And when Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing beside him, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” And he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” From that time on, the disciple took her to his house.
Today is Mother's Day at the church. It is a day to be thankful for the grace of parents. When I think of parents, I think of my father and mother. But I have no memory of my father. This is because my father was forcibly kidnapped by the communist army on the 25th of June on the charge of being rich and dragged north. Just as Mary witnessed Jesus crucified, my mother lamented as she saw her father being taken away innocently. In this way, my mother lost her husband and fled from Seoul to Jeju Island with her five young children. Despite the unspeakable difficulties, my mother raised our five children wonderfully. So I brag about my mother to everyone.
The words ‘Mom, Mother’ were the first words we learned, and they were our haven and refuge. My mother always raised us with earnest prayer and love. A woman is weak, but indeed a mother is strong. A mother's love is stronger and more sacrificial than death. Let's not forget our mother's grace. Now, when I think of my deceased mother, I think of the times when I was illegitimate, and I regret it very much.
The Bible says
“Listen to your father who gave birth to you, and do not despise your old mother” (Proverbs 23:22).
“Rejoice your father and mother, and make your mother happy” (Proverbs 23:25).
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, so that it may go well with you and that you may live long on the earth” (Ephesians 6:1-3).
My dear mother, whom I miss and miss again and again! Now, I look back on my mother, who will be in God's arms.
My mother was a praying mother. Samuel's mother Hannah and Timothy's mother Eunice are representative godly and virtuous mothers in the Bible. Moody's mother, who lost her husband and raised nine children of twins, was a wonderful mother to her children, teaching the Bible in front of the fireplace every night, crying and praying after the children fell asleep, and in the morning with a bright and clear expression like the sun. A child of a praying mother never goes wrong.
Also, my mother was a serving mother.
My proud mother's spirit of sacrifice for her children and the spirit of service for others are noble spirits that we should all imitate and learn.
Let's sing the hymn 'Mother's Broad Love' together.
A Mother's Broad Love (Hymns 579, <Bong> 304)
1. A mother's wide love is precious and precious
That love always surrounds me
When I cry, my mother prays to the Lord
When I laugh with joy, you sing praises
2. My mother's bible that she read in the morning and evening
I seem to have seen every verse left from my hand.
whoever believes will have eternal life
The precious words you memorized now become strength
3. When you are tired of lying alone
The hymn you sing comes alive in my ears
A spring springs upon the rock, and the wasteland blossoms.
If you walk with Jesus, you will have nothing to fear.
4. Meek, humble, upright and strong
Live a happy life by following your mother's will
Fighting the good fight in a world full of storms
Where the stream of life flows, the way will live together.
A mother whose hair has turned white and fine wrinkles have grown due to sacrificing everything to support her, a mother who only gave and received nothing, a mother who has walked the path of asceticism as much as any saint!
Here are two poems by Dr. Kyu-Tae Jeon, a former professor at Yonsei University.
1. mother
The origin of the saint
All-in-one love
in twelve skirts
Fully loaded
glimmering in the sunset
that mother-in-law's face.
painful sorrow
Put to sleep when spraying
pale indigo sky
nostalgic ray of light
In the heartbreaking sousen echo
screaming mother.
2. Faraway Mother
mother seldom
you don't appear in my dreams
than among the stars
even though it's far away
always clear and beautiful
that sweet voice
Meteors cast a shadow
pass by
Enveloping me like a mist
leading to dreamland
church bells at dawn
i run
Let's all give warm applause and unreserved respect and admiration not only to my mother, but to all the good and majestic mothers in this land. And let's do our best to live a true and rewarding life day by day faithfully so that we can become children who do not go against our mother's expectations. (Leviticus 19:3, Deuteronomy 27:16, Psalm 127:3, Proverbs 13:1)
* Prayer: Lord, who told us to honor our parents, we are always thankful for your grace, and give us strong faith to all our family members, and bless them to become godly parents and children of filial faith. Forgive us the sins of not giving thanks to our parents, complaining, complaining, and not being filial, and let us spread the great love of God to the whole world. No matter how busy you are, don't commit the sin of not praying for your children. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen
