my prayer

? Text: Psalm 4:1-8 / God expects change in each person.

? into the story

A certain man of God said, “I reported my pain and difficulties to the Lord and waited for an answer to it.” But surprisingly, the problem that seemed as dark as pitch black became clear as crystal with God's help.

I think Christians often don't get their prayers answered because they don't wait for God long enough. They bow their heads for a moment, say a few words, then jump up and forget about it. Still, I expect God to answer. Such a prayer is reminiscent of a child who rings the doorbell next door and runs away as quickly as possible. When we develop the right habits of prayer, we enter a new level.

Someone asked the pious Scotsman, "Do you expect to go to heaven?" Then he said, “What are you talking about? I already live there!”

All paths to heaven have already begun for Christians who walk close to God to hear the secrets God has revealed.

? into the text

David, who is troubled by his enemies, begins to pray. But David's prayer is quite different from ours.

1. What situation is David in now? What was David holding on to in that situation? (verse 1)

2. What does David urge to life? (Verses 2-5)

3. How did God answer David's prayer? (Verses 7-8)

? into life

1. Isn't my prayer too focused on the change of circumstances? What do you think God really wants for my situation right now?

2. Do you find joy and peace after praying? Are you still anxious after praying?

? apply

1. For a specific problem given to me, write down the prayer that changes the situation and the prayer that changes me, referring to the example below.

problem with me

please change the situation

please change me

disease

please heal me

Allow me to be thankful even in sickness

2. Based on the above, check whether my prayer was a prayer to change circumstances or a prayer to change me in general, and write down what I need to do to change my prayer into a prayer that changes me.
