Title: My Pride Cross (Galatians 06:11-16)
Contents: I suspect that many of you are worshiping with a very strange feeling today.
Many churches keep today as Easter Sunday, but I believe you will be puzzled as to why our church doesn't do that.
The problem lies right there.
A lot of people do that, so I'm having a problem.
People have become very accustomed to keeping the days by doing one day at a time.
So if it's not that day, it's like something big is going to happen.
It is not this day called today that is important, but more important is whether the resurrected Lord is really living in me.
Dear saints, since when did we become so interested in the day? Do you know why we call this day a Sunday? Because the Lord resurrected on that very day, this day, 52 weeks a year, was called Sunday.
Therefore, on this day, that is, on Sunday, the resurrection of the Lord must always be confirmed.
All 52 weeks are the Day of Resurrection.
Rather than focusing on the resurrection of one day, the joy of the Lord's resurrection should always overflow in our whole life.
In that sense, it was unusually bite-sized.
Another, according to theologian Eric Sauer, that 2,000 years ago, the first Easter Sunday was on April 7th in the solar calendar.
It is not easy for April 7th to be a Sunday.
If so, April 7th makes a lot more sense.
So, today, I would like to think of the cross of the Lord to understand the meaning of the Lord's resurrection.
Resurrection is precious, but the Apostle Paul boasted more about the cross.
Verse 14 says, "...without the cross I have nothing to boast about." 1, The cross is God's love.
Why did the Apostle Paul say to the Galatian church that there is no boasting in the cross? Because the cross was a sign of God's love.
It was because God's love was all answered on the cross.
John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
It is said that God gave his son Jesus as a sign of love.
Then, how was it given? In verse 14, before John 3:16, he said this.
“As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,” he said.
What does it mean to be lifted? Where did Moses pick up the serpent? He put it on a pole.
In the same way, it means that Jesus was given to be crucified, a pole.
Some give the reason like this.
There are people who say that the cross would not have been necessary if God had not made the tree of knowledge in the Garden of Eden.
no.
It was also a sign of God's love for the good and evil of Eden.
Of course, the cross is also a sign of God's love.
When do you feel the love of your parents? After getting married and having children ...
But can I know all the love of my parents? Far from knowing all of the love of my parents, I only feel that the love of my parents is incomprehensible and deep and wide as the days go by.
If God said to Adam that I love you, would Adam understand and understand what he said? If parents say that I love you while having children and raising them, will the little one understand? So God showed God’s love through the cross it has been given
It means that God loves the world, and He loves us even to the point of having His only begotten Son crucified.
Romans 5:8 says, "God demonstrates his love for us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Every time we look at this cross, we see the love of God.
Those who can see the cross know how to see the love of God.
Does the cross look like God's love? 2, The cross is the core of the gospel.
The Apostle Paul wrote half of the New Testament.
What was his core thought? In 6:14, the apostle Paul said, "...I have nothing to boast of except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ."
The reason the Apostle Paul had many difficult experiences, such as praying together in prison, being beaten and dying, was because he preached the cross.
Some say that the message of Christianity is to imitate the life of Jesus.
Of course, there is no doubt that it is the doctrine of Christianity to be like Esu, but it is not the core message of Christianity.
See the teachings of the apostles.
Their message was not to be like Jesus, but to the Lord who died on the cross.
See the Last Supper of the Lord.
In Luke 22:19-20, he gave important teachings, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me" and "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."
Yes.
blood ! The blood of the cross! This is the central theme of the gospel.
In Revelation 1:5, the apostle John writes, “Grace and peace to you through Jesus Christ, a faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and head of the kings of the earth. set us free" Here, the important emphasis of the Second Coming of the Lord emphasizes His death on the cross and the blood He shed to set us free from our sins.
Because the cross is the blood of Christ, the core of the gospel.
Also, when the Lord gave the Lord's Supper, He gave bread and wine and told us to keep remembrance of the Lord until the day the Lord comes again.
What was to be remembered forever? It was bread and wine.
The bread and wine were the cross of the Lord of Calvary.
3, The cross is the basis of salvation.
Why did the apostle Paul boast only of the cross Why did the apostle Paul preach only the cross? It is because we were saved through the cross.
6:14 “But I have nothing to boast about except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.” Because of the cross of Christ.
Galatians 3:1 says, “You fool, Galatians, when your eyes are clearly showing that Jesus Christ was crucified, who deceives you?
So Paul was more proud of the cross.
If yes, no one will be saved unless Christ died on the cross.
There is no gospel to preach.
Dear saints, look at the cross
Have you ever looked at the cross with a sincere heart? Have you ever meditated deeply on the cross in the middle of Calvary’s worldly crosses? Have you ever thought deeply about what Jesus Christ did on the cross in the middle? Are you wearing the clothes of...
Why did he have to die...
Why did you have to be crucified like that?
The Son of God died on the cross.
Because He came to die in heaven.
The purpose of the Lord's coming to this earth was to die.
Why did the Lord have to do this? Verse 14 "... through Christ the world was crucified to me, and I to the world." "All have sinned and fall short of the fruit of the Spirit of God." “The wages of righteousness is death.” “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission.”
The saints in the Old Testament had animals slaughtered and their blood was shed in order to take away sins. Cows, calves, sheep, pigeons, sparrows...
When the Israelites left Egypt, all the firstborn of Egypt died.
But not one of the firstborn sons of Israel died.
It was because he had blood on the doorposts. Because there was a cross.
Lamb's blood...
When Jesus came into the world, how did John the Baptist introduce Jesus as “the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”.
He came to die on the cross as a Lamb.
This is the gospel.
This is salvation by faith.
Don't ask who you are.
It doesn't even ask what sins you have committed.
You are asking if you have the cross of Christ in your heart.
