Title: Name of Jesus
Today's Word: Peter said to him, "Silver and gold I have none, but what I have I give you; in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk." (Acts 3:6)
How have you all been in good health for a week? Is the weather very cold? Some of my friends already have a cold. The evangelist also got sick and was very sick for several days. We want to be healthy and not get sick, but I think there are many times when things don't go as well as we like.
Even in the words God has given us today, there are people who are very sick. Where is this person sick? (Listen to the answer.) Yes. My leg hurts. It's not because of an accident or injury, it's not that I can't move at will because of my leg that hurts from birth. If you read verse 2, it is recorded that this man was begging at the beautiful gate of the temple, but people brought it to the front of the temple because he could not walk alone.
Today, this uncle was begging at the passersby in front of the temple gate. Some left their coins and some gave them food.
'thank you. thank you!'
I said hello, but I didn't feel really grateful in my heart.
'You're dressed in such nice clothes, and you're full of jewels, but what's with just one coin? If it were me, I wouldn't do it... Eat well and live well~.'
When I saw a poor-looking person passing by, cautiously approaching me, robbing me of all the coins in my pocket, and putting them in a bowl, my eyes were wet with tears unknowingly.
It's already 3pm. 3:00 p.m., recorded as ‘the nine o’clock’ in the Bible, is a prayer time for Israelis. At that time, people come to the temple to pray. So this old man with a sore leg raised his voice and begged.
"Help. He is a poor man who cannot walk at birth. Just one penny, please!”
There are two people walking in the distance. Judging by the clothes he's wearing, he doesn't look rich, but he has a very nice face and has a warm heart. So I turned it up even more.
“Charity teacher, please help me poor.”
Finally, the two stopped walking. Their faces were more loving than when they were seen from a distance, and their faces seemed to glow. Also, his voice was full of power, and he had the dignity that anyone had to obey the teacher's words.
“We have neither gold nor silver to help you.”
Uncle was disappointed for a moment, but somehow his heart broke and he wanted to talk a little more with the teachers. But I told my uncle again as if the teachers had read my mind.
“But, we want to give you the most precious thing we have.”
“You’re giving me the most precious thing?”
"Yeah. Everything we have.”
“Oh… no. you give me everything No. You don't have to give me the most precious thing. Just a little help would be of great help to me.”
The teachers, who were smiling, came closer and grabbed Uncle's rough and dirty hands.
For a moment, he was happy, as if he had become richer than he had received gold or silver.
“We don't have gold or silver, but we give what we have the most, everything we have. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who made everything in this world and loves you, will meet you. Now get up and walk!”
The moment he heard the name of “Jesus Christ,” he felt a “strength in his legs” that he had never felt before. My heart was burning with hope and trust in the “promise that Jesus Christ will meet me” that the teachers said. Uncle held the teacher's hand tighter and gave strength to his leg. But what is this? Doesn't the strength in your feet and ankles cause you to stand up and lose? And if it's a dream, I'm walking so bravely that I wish I didn't wake up. He was so happy and happy that he jumped and shouted.
“Jesus, Jesus found me! Jesus Christ healed me!”
Everyone who passed by to see this strange sight gathered around. The man who had been healed now held the hands of the people around him and jumped and said again.
“Jesus healed me, lame. Jesus is truly the Son of God!”
“I couldn’t even see Jesus with my own eyes, but I was healed just by believing in the name of Jesus!”
Doesn't it seem like you can see the tears of gratitude weeping over the emotion of the man who was healed?
The man, who had been ill since birth, was healed when he heard the news of the gospel of Jesus Christ delivered by Peter and John. Not only did my body heal, but my devastated mind and spirit became a new person overflowing with joy and gratitude. More than anything else, my view of health and money was the most important value in life. I learned experientially that “the most precious thing, all you have is Jesus,” as Peter and John said.
What is most important to us? Can we confess that Jesus is the most precious? Can we proudly introduce Jesus to those who do not know Him?
We are the people and children of faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. As recorded in today's Bible verse, Jesus has power just by his name. So, for those of us who live with Jesus as the most important person in our hearts, ‘Jesus is the most precious person in the world that cannot be replaced with anything else’.
But we have to think again.
‘What is most important to me, whether Jesus is the most precious to me like Peter and John, and I am proud of Jesus,’
Let's pray.
“Heavenly Father, thank you for your words that make me think deeply about Jesus. There were thousands of people entering the temple, but there were only two people who considered Jesus the most precious and everything in their lives. Jesus, who healed the sick through the two disciples who believed in the power of Jesus' name, please come and meet us in our hearts. Grant me the faith to live with Jesus as the most precious person and as my whole life, and to proudly introduce the name of Jesus. I pray in Jesus name. Amen."
