Title: Name of Jesus/Matthew 1:18-25
Contents
1. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit.
'Jacob begat Joseph, the husband of Mary...' (16)
In the Gospel of Luke, Joseph is the son of Heli. Scholars have made great efforts to reconcile this (Luke 3:23). 3rd century Julius Africanus sees Jacob and Heli as brothers with different fathers. In other words, Mattan and Melgi, two different fathers, married a woman named Estah. Mattan bore Jacob as her first husband, and after his death she remarried Melgi and bore him Heli. And Heli was married, but died without children, and his older brother Jacob married Heli's widow and had Joseph. Thus, although Joseph was the natural son of Jacob physically, he was also the son of Melchi legally.
Africanus argued that this view was consistent with the tradition passed down through the families of relatives of Jesus Christ, and that this view was in every way a satisfactory solution to the problem. A man named Morrison added to this view and said at the same time that we have no doubt that Mary was Joseph's closest relative and, therefore, that Joseph's genealogy was, in essence, also actually Mary's line.
1) Joseph and Mary are from the house of David. (Luke 2:4)
2) The two were betrothed.
They get married after about a year of betrothal, and it is a very embarrassing fact for Joseph that he is already pregnant. What a troubled night he must have had. What attitude would you take if your fianc was in this situation? Would you really tolerate it? The Virgin Mary also faced the crisis of breaking up despite her own fault. How much more must Mary's faith be tested?
3) Joseph wanted to end his relationship with her quietly and without revealing it. It was the conclusion that Joseph came to after pondering for a while.
2. Revelation of God
How beneficial is God's revelation at the right time
The angel of the Lord spoke. ‘Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take your wife. The one conceived by me is of the Holy Spirit.' This revelation was a revelation that contained God's purpose and intention.
Elijah, a man of God, heard the voice of God in the depths of despair.
'I have left 7,000 people who have not bowed their knees to Baal.' As Jacob fled to Paddan-aram, he heard the voice of God appearing from the middle of God's ladder. (Genesis 28:15- )
We must pay attention to the providence of dealing with those who depend on and trust in God.
- Abraham was commanded to sacrifice his only son.
- The people who were taken into captivity in Babylon did not show any signs of salvation even after 70 years.
- All the Jews of Persia were doomed to be slaughtered along with Esther in the royal palace.
- Peter suffered persecution by being imprisoned by Herod Agrippa.
- Paul was attacked by Jewish enemies.
- Luther was conspired by his enemies and attacked.
But God will not break a bruised reed, nor quench a smoldering wick.
He promised that He would do it until the time of judgment and victory. God even revealed his name. 'Jesus' ... the one who will save his people from their sins.
3. The one who fulfilled the prophesied covenant (23)
Isaiah 7:14 'Behold, a virgin shall conceive and bear a son... and shall be called Immanuel.' Immanuel means God is with us.
When Joseph heard this, he brought his wife. And she did not lie with her until she gave birth to a son.
There is nothing as painful as doubting each other. like someone is suspicious
there is nothing painful What is required at this time is an appropriate revelation from God. God's revelation is the most appropriate solution. When you are misunderstood, look to God in the stillness, and the angel of God will enlighten you.
God has a good plan for mankind. He knows our weaknesses. Isaiah 53:4 'Surely he bore our sorrows and bore our sorrows...' Romans 5:6 'In our weakness, as promised, Christ died for the ungodly.' Verse 8, 'God demonstrates his love for us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.'
