Title: Nazarite/Numbers 6:1-7
Content: Nazarite/Numbers 6:1-7
Do you know that the reality of the Korean church these days is that there are no churches that can be trusted? Why? All the signs are flashing, but the problem is that there is no gospel. It is up to believers to distinguish whether it is the gospel or not. A person of the Holy Spirit can discern whether it is the Gospel or not, and clearly understand that there is a problem. So what is evangelical? It is not the gospel in any way that makes man good for himself and lives for himself. In other words, it is not an exaggeration to say that everything that makes you believe in Jesus for your own sake is fake. Man wants Christianity to satisfy his desires, to make his dreams come true, and to be free from tribulation and suffering. He wants a kind of Christianity that gives peace to his heart and does not burden him. We want a church that can be trusted easily and can have faith with the world at the same time. But it is clear that the Bible does not want such a thing. If Christianity was given the way man wanted, there was no need for the Lord to die on the cross. You should definitely know this.
Today's text teaches us what it means to live separately. Last time, God taught us how God wants His people to live in Jinan. It is said that the appearance of the weak is the image of the believer. Today we are talking about the Nazarite. Nazarite is the Hebrew word for Nazar, which separates them. It has a distinct meaning. However, the set apart does not have any qualifications. Anyone can become a Nazarite. Of course, like Samson, there are special cases where God's will is done, but anyone can do it. See verse 2? We are talking about the Nazarites in detail. What makes you a Nazarite? Is it like the fasting prayer you do when you have a special resolution to receive something from God? That's not it. It's just (haunting). It is by making a decision on your own before God. So, is there any benefit to doing so? no. There are no benefits. Then, what special treatment is given to you while doing so, it is not.
Being a Nazarite, he has to face many difficulties and self-control. What kind of restraint do you have? There are three things, the first is to avoid wine and strong alcohol. Do not eat grape juice, raisins, or raw grapes. Why are you doing this? Grapes are the food of blessing and the best food. To not eat this means not to enjoy the things of the world. It is to know with the greatest pleasure of God. In doing so, it teaches us to distinguish between the holy and the unholy. The second is not to put a razor on your head. Simply put, you don't cut your hair. The reason for doing this is to reveal that there is someone who is in control of everything. In other words, it shows that you are special. And the third is not to come close to the body. Why are you doing this? It shows that God has nothing to do with death. These appearances are a restrained appearance and also a sign of living a life completely separated from God.
In the end, a separate life is not about doing or not doing something, but about abandoning your own will and submitting yourself to God's will. That is what we find in the Nazarite figure. And when all the time has passed, this Nazarite will cut off his head and offer it as a peace offering. In doing so, you are offering yourself as a sacrifice. You are the victim yourself. This is what a Nazarite looks like. God is teaching us what it means to live God-centered through this Nazarite. Before getting to know Jesus, our form of life was completely for ourselves. I lived my life by all means and methods, only as I prospered and for my own benefit. But it was distinct. now saved To become God's people means that we no longer live for ourselves, but only for the Lord. For that purpose, he thoroughly kills all of himself. This is the life of a believer.
So, the representative Nazarite is Jesus Christ. He was the last Nazarite dedicated to God. His life was not a life for himself, but a life for God and a life of sacrifice for us. That is why the Lord sacrificed all of Himself. This is what Christianity is. But the problem is, look at the church of this age and look at the people who claim to be believers in this age. No, look at yourself. There is not.
