never swear
Matthew 5:33-37
It is said that words have the power to create. So whatever you say is what it is. That's why you shouldn't be rude. And we should be able to take responsibility for our words.
Psalm 34:12-13 Who desires to be blessed by longing for life and by love of years? Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from lies.
If you want to live a long life and be blessed, you have to speak well. Do not speak evil, negative, unbelievable, or lie.
Everyone, blessing and cursing are all in words. Blessing with words and curses with words. Isaac blessed Jacob with his words and cursed Esau with his words. As said, Jacob was blessed and Esau was cursed.
James 3:4-6 Also, look at the boat, which is so great that it is swept away by the gusts of wind with its very small stature, and so the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. Behold, how many trees does a small fire burn! The tongue is fire and the world of iniquity. The tongue defiles the whole body among our members and sets on fire the wheel of life, and its devouring comes from the fires of hell.
In today's text, Jesus told us not to swear at all.
You shall not swear falsely in the Pentateuch, Leviticus 19:12 You shall not profane the name of your God by swearing falsely in my name, for I am the LORD. Num 30:2 When a person makes a vow to the LORD or makes a vow to the LORD, he shall not break it; he shall do all that he has spoken.
to keep your oath.
An oath is a promise made with greater authority in order to assert the truthfulness of one's actions or words. The reason the Lord gave the Israelites the form of an oath was that they would not lie.
When Jesus said not to swear at all, he meant not to swear falsely. In other words, tell the truth. Because it is not okay to make an oath and fail to keep it. This is because when Jesus said not to swear at all, if you make an oath and do not keep it, you will eventually become a lie. In other words, be truthful.
Only say what you say is right, yes, no, no, what goes on from this is from evil. Untruthful lies are evil. Lies beget lies. Because they are trying to cover up the lie.
Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, an independence activist, was a person who particularly emphasized honesty. Dosan said, “It’s a lie, you are the enemy who killed my country. Even if I die all the days of my life, I will not lie.” It was the judgment that it was the dishonesty of this nation, not the Japanese colonial rule, that ruined the nation. The teacher said that honesty and sincerity are the only ways to save this country. "Don't lie even as a joke. If you have lost your sincerity even in your dreams, deeply regret it. Even in death, there must be no lies.” I did. The reason Dosan was arrested in Shanghai was because of his honesty. Doctor Yun Bong-gil threw a bomb at Honggu Park in Shanghai, and the Japanese imperial security was tight, so the comrades recommended the teacher to take refuge. However, the teacher made a promise to Man-Young Lee, the son of Lee Yoo-pil, who was then the head of the Shanghai Korean Community, to donate 2 won to the Youth League, and he could not break that promise. Dosan, who always keeps his promises no matter what, came to Lee Yoo-pil's house to give Lee Man-young 2 won. At that time, the teacher was arrested by the detectives in ambush.
dear classmates
Our Lord says not to swear falsely. What is right is not what is not right. is to do it. So it is to be truthful. That's right. We Christians are to live truthfully. I earnestly hope that you will become people who consider the truth as life.
