(17) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians (20) Three postures necessary for new blessings (2 Corinthians 5:17)
1. Getting closer to God
“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” means that there is always new possibility in the Lord. There is no situation where change is not possible. If you are in God, your life can change 180 degrees. But “It changes! We can't do it!” We should not be obsessed with the phrase, “In God”, which is more important. If “in God” is omitted, it is not faith, but activism.
Behaviorists think, “I control my life!” They do not tolerate exceptions well and do not recognize transcendental beings. Their favorite saying is, “You can do it!” However, if “in God” is omitted, “You can do it!” can be the most unbelieving claim. Therefore, believe, “You can do it in God!” In ‘the one who strengthens me,’ the saint can overcome any situation and become the protagonist of change (Philippians 4:13).
The other day, when the spring drought was so severe that planting could not be done properly, 50 million Koreans hung on to bring water to the paddy fields, but to no avail. However, as the planting season passed, it started to rain. At that time, an hour of rain completely dried up the work that 40 million people had been working on. When you depend on God, you can experience amazing works.
2. Let the old one pass
The past has already passed. If you cling to past glory or pain, your life becomes one-tempo slow. People tend to be more future-oriented when they are young, and they become more past-oriented as they get older. The members of the church are also closer to the future-oriented as they become new believers, and the more past-oriented as they become older believers. Usually, in any organization, when there are a lot of past-oriented people, discord arises. God doesn't often use past-oriented people.
Conversely, don't lean too much on the vague future by saying, "Something will happen in the future." If you look at life as a book, the pages of yesterday are covered by God's forgiveness and mercy, and the pages of tomorrow are not yet opened. So count on the forgiveness of yesterday and the promise of tomorrow, and record today's story every day. In Jesus, it is always present tense. If you cling to the old work, God will not allow you to do the new work.
3. Starting a new job
Continuing in the text, the Apostle Paul confesses, “Behold, something new has come.” To live a victorious life, start new things with a desire for new things. Victory comes from the beginning. Don't wait for things to happen, let them happen. Failure is far more often the result of over-care than the result of great adventure. Blessings are not given to caution experts or excuse experts.
Practice a positive mindset. A positive person sees the same rose and rejoices at its beauty, but a negative person sees a rose thorn and complains. Drinking the same morning dew, bees make honey, and snakes make venom. Even with the same polio, Roosevelt became president, but some became beggars. Even listening to the same sermon will heal some people's wounds while others get hurt. Why? Because of the difference between positive thinking and negative thinking.
The problem is seeing the problem as the problem, not the problem. Failure is not failure, but failure is considered failure. Washington, the first president of the United States, was hostile to many celebrities and his soldiers walked barefoot on the snow without food or equipment, but ultimately won the War of Independence with a positive mindset. When you start a new job with such a positive mindset, you will experience new blessings.
